Cute, fuzzy, wuzzy pet talk

This thread is for talking about any pets you may have and any sickening cute affectations they may have, I will begin with my pets, which since I am at college am not allowed to have them, they are at my parents house. In any case I will only mention the pets worth mentioning namely dogs, yes dogs are definitely the best pet around, better then birds(bird brained that they are), and certainly the oft sighted alternative cats(why anyone would ever go for a cat is beyond me, maybe if you are a woman its easier

). In any case this thread will be my one attempt to try and get this fuzzy wuzzy talk down.

My dogs name is Tatanka, which is a name we picked up while hiking in the Badlands of North and South Dakota. She is German shephard we raised from a puppy and so is definitely a part of the family, goes whereever we go, eats whatever we eat, etc, probably thinks she is human or something. In any case she is a really nice dog, loyal to a fault, and whenever there is a fight in the family will go hiding under a short table. Whenever I howl at the moon, or at the stars in general(should try that some time, it is a real stress reliever) she howls right with me.

Our second dog's name is Red, a red mutt that sorta adopted us while we were fixing up the land we bought in La Belle, he has a tendency to escape and chase after innocent bystanders, still kinda cute though, he would put his head on your lap and just stare at you whenever he wanted something from you. In any case fixing him did not seem to fix this rascal, a lesson to any ladies who wish to fix their men, it does not always have the direct effect of calming them down, it might just push them into a psychotic rage from which they would never escape but that is completely beside the point.

So in any case, Tatanka tends to get jealous and they tend to playfight a lot, jealous b*tch that she is she would eat all of his food just out of spite because he is getting more of the attention.

So anyway that was my attempt at all around fluffiness, would any of you care to take a stab at it.

You know b*tch is perfectly acceptable for describing a female dog, wonder why its filtered out.

Cats are far superior to dogs.

Who would want some mindless mutt following them around all day? Cats know they're better and expect to be treated as such. You gotta respect that.

Anyway, we have two pets. One is a Shi-tsu(dog) named Benji. My 'rents got him for me for Christmas back in '93 or '94, can't remember which. He quickly became my dad's dog though(by my choice) since I prefer cats. He was useful back when we got him. At the time, we lived in Ruidosa, New Mexico, which is up in the mountains. We would regularly drive down to Alemogordo(sp?), which requires travelling a very twisty route through the mountains. I used to get motion sick very easily, which made that a problem. We started taking Benji along with us and he kept me distracted, which kept me from getting motion sick.

Our other pet, which is specifically my pet, is our silver saimese-tabby named Zebedee. He's totally kawaii! Some of his favorite things to do are pounce on air and miss, thus running into the wall; tackle golfballs; kill birds; and annoy Benji. Keep in mind with the pouncing on air thing that we found him in Carlsbad, Texas, which is in in West Texas, and we're pretty sure, because of some other observations, that he has some brain damage from the heat. He's full grown, but he's still very playful and acts a lot like he's still a kitten. My dad says that's because he's an adolescent cat.

Gee, all this typing has made me hungry. I wonder if Zebedee will share some of his catfood with me. *walks off to see*

Am I turning into a cat lady?

3 cats--the only reason we have 3 cats is that we don't want 4.

Slinky--shiny black cat. Likes to sit on your chest in bed and rub her face on yours. I figure she's given me about thousands of kisses in her lifetime, and extended mine by many years. Favorite word: Mop

Spanky--daughter of Slinky. Ferocious miniature tiger. Has taken about 4 years to trust us. Gets upset when you don't respect her ferocity. Father was a tom who lived in the scrapyard near us in Brooklyn.

Bub--a female also. Alpha cat. Mostly white with gray tabby. Loves all humans, very friendly to them. Other cats beware. Very courageous--will take on any tom who comes in the yard.

I like dogs too, but I don't think the pride would be too appreciative if I got one.

i like dogs better than cats
dogs have unconditional love towards their owners, so much gratitude, i think that is much better than cats. I mean, i feed my dog and he is so happy even though all i did was feed him. but i guess i really don't know much about cats. i've never had one, i'm very allergic.

I have one dog, name michelangelo, he's an english springer spaniel, got him for my 5th birthday, pretty old dog now.

i currently have one hedgehog, also quite old for a hedgehog, it's an african pygmy hedgehog, not one of those ugly brown european ones, her name is dona, short for donatelo, (i used to be really really into the teenage mutant ninja turtles) i used to have several other hedgehogs, but they've died or i have them away, i had one that died, 4 that were eaten by dona, and i gave 3 away, all since died.

to generically categoricalize cats and dogs is just wrong. there are just as many unique dogs and cats as there are people. you can't say that cats are one way and dogs are another. how do i know this?
my parent's have five cats and four dogs. i have one dog, my girlfriend has a cat and a dog. my sister and her husband have 2 cats and a dog. my grandmother has 4 cats and 2 dogs. and these are the living ones. we've had several come and go.

but my dog here with me is JoJo. he's just like me, loves to sit on the couch, drink beer, and has bursts of energy. we have the same build of having thick muscular chests. he's my baby, and it pains me when i have to travel and board him.

you know what one of my biggest complaints is. why the hell can i not buy my dog a seat on an airplane? some screaming, crying, pooping, pissing, whiny ass kid can ride in a plane and annoy every living soul and the dead ones for that matter. but my dog who would just sit there and would probably actually help calm people down around him, is not allowed. if he were small enough he could go as my carry on, but i would be fully willing to buy him his own ticket if i could.

god it just pisses me off.

Over the past 18 years, I've had four dogs and 30+ cats. So, I may not be extremely experienced with canine diversity, I do have a pretty good idea about feline diversity. I've also never met a cat I didn't like.

i almost died when i read this sentence! i have a big poster in my room with a picture of alf on it that says: "no he conocido un gato que no me guste" which means, i've never met a cat i didn't like. of course, you all know alf...

I have a cat called Tatty, he's got this amazing way of doing things, he learns from his mistakes, changes his plans(Ie One time he was sitting on my lap and I wiggled my foot, he turns round I stop he goes back but looks at an angle so he can see my foot, I do it again and he's on my foot!) He also winks at me

) This little guy goes crazy whenever the postman comes around. And refuses to even let the birds rest in our backyard. He has become way too attached to his teddy bear for my liking, the thing is torn to bits.

. But he is a great dog, obidient (sp?) and loves to play fetch.

uh, my dog is the laziest animal you will ever see, my backyard is infested with rabbits, i have dozens of rabits living my backyard, you can see them hopping around. now, i would think that my dog would chase the rabbits or something, but he just sits there and watches them. same thing with the crows, and the crows actually come and eat his dog food with him.

How could I not join this thread??

Okay, I live in a townhouse with a sister who is allegic to cats and dogs. Because of that I've had to get my pet fix in other ways

I currently have two guinea pigs and a rabbit. I'm working on the s.o. to get another rabbit as Edwin needs a friend, but so far no go.

I don't recommend guinea pigs as pets. Sure they're easy, but they smell funny and are not very cuddly. I've had friends pick them up and hold them for a bit only to have a wet stain spread down their shirts. (now I warn all who mess with them.) I also don't understand how they could have possibly survive in the wild. They constantly squeak and when frightened they freeze and squeak louder. ( I named the squeakiest one 'Aerie' and it fits rather well)

Then there's Edwin, my rabbit. He's a Holland Lop smaller than the guinea pigs who manages to send them running. I think it's the joyful bounds he takes, or the fact that he jumps into their cage and stares at them as if daring them to make a move on him. He's just sweet and curious and neater than most cats I've known.

That is a DANGEROUS thing to let your dog do. Crows have been known to carry off and murder dogs before.

actually, my (late) rabbit used to terrorize my (late) guinea pig too, in spite of all the advice from the pet shops that said they'd be fine together

and guinea pigs are damn cute, but not cuddly - when young they're hyperactive and twitchy, and when old, mine was a lethargic obese eating macine who would only move if he couldn't reach any food just by swivelling his head

and they *do* smell odd

I have a cat, also called Charlie, who was locked indoors at an early age by her previous owners. Despite years of loving care

, she still jumps at the sign of a dead leaf, and is regularly terrorized by the big fat pidgeon that lords over my garden

Anyone else got a pet that will more than likely wet itself at the sight of its own shadow?

Rofl!! Someone with a similar experience

I was worried about how fat they are! I take them out to exercise and their tummy's rub the floor while the double chins sway. They spend most of their outside time hiding under my plant stand squeaking (and looking for food), not getting much needed exercise.

(Unless the rabbit bounds towards them driving them loudly forth into the outside world)

CornFlake, Why yes, my guinea pigs DO relieve themselves at the sight of their 'scary shadows'.

my guinea pig was frightened out of it's wits by mice who crept into it's hutch at night and ate it's food. its terrified 'gronk'ing was so moving that we had fit a smaller mes to the hutch
