Dudley Moore dies, 66

Dudley Moore dies, 64

Just heard from the BBC that Dudley has died of a degenerative brain disease. He always struck me as being The Real Thing in an industry stuffed to the gills with fakes: a genuine literate and witty man, a good writer, a fine classical composer, an strong classical pianist, and good actor. What will always win my respect was that at the height of his popularity he simply couldn't stand the Hollywood film industry, its ignorance, self-congratulatory cynicism and emptiness any longer, and left it.

If you can find his Beyond the Fringe records, do yourself a favor: buy 'em and listen to some truly delightful satire.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Fable, interesting you heard it on the BBC, When I heard it on the radio this morning (JJJ - Australian National Radio) they said he died at his home in New Jersey of Pneumonia as a complication to a rare brain disease. I do agree with your sentiments also - Curdis !

Also heard it on Triple J. It's sad that he passed away. But to me it was also sadder seeing him in the state that he was in. He was a great actor and will be missed. :(

I heard it was 66, perhaps i am wrong, doesn't really matter it is sad to see him passing.

Apaprently he was dissilussioned with everyone confusing him with the characters he played on screen.
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
