You really think so? I would have thought that power in itself was a danger draw: the nail that sticks out (as Minsc reminds us) gets hammered down. To me, the safest place would be the most inconspicuous one--maybe the Scandanavian countries. Or Iceland, or Greenland. Or Hungary.

Well, maybe not Hungary, but they've got some fantastically beauitful cities, there.

Well, maybe not Hungary, but they've got some fantastically beauitful cities, there.

Keep in mind that America has no enemies directly around them. Thet are pretty isolated except from Mexico, Cananda and perhaps Greenland (Denmark).

If you look at Europe, there are a lot of different countries breathing down eathothers neck.

But withe the weapons they have now, they can kill a little rabit from the other side of the planet, so perhaps it doesn't matter they are so isolated.

I didn't vote because the context is too important. I own a Rottwieller and while they are -potentially- dangerous dogs, they are actually pretty sookie and calm. This is like the USA, potenially they can do untold damage but generally they just keep to themselves (<- I know this arguement by analogy sucks on a number of levels). So potentially the USA.

In terms of real danger try Zimbabwe (currently) as a visitor, or a resident. - Curdis !

Thats the reason I chose Israel. Staying in a state of perpetual terror for such a long time. Forces you to do drastic things, as we have seen recently.

That is a fair point Tamerlane, and Israel's effect in the context of the Middle East is also (as I believe you are stating) significant. That is why the context of the question is so important.

Most dangerous as a global destabilizer?
Most dangerous as a place for any person to visit/be?
Most dangerous as a place to live?
Most dangerous for an *insert nationality here* to visit or live?

There's five questions which would probably get five different answers from the same person. Polls

But I think Josh has been too modest of Australia's dangerous charms. Australia has:

The most venomous snake (mulga or fierce snake)
The most lethal (venom and amount delivered) snake (Tiapan)
The most lethal and venomous spider (Sydney Funnelweb - female)
The most venomous octopus (Blue Ringed Octopus)
The most venomous sea snake - (Ashmore Reef sea snake)
The most venomous mammalian egg layer - (Platypus - male)

A fully grown male kangaroo can easily kill (although I think most human (kangaroo related) fatalities involve motor vehicles - they ain't fluffy wuffy when you hit one at 110 kph - or swerve to miss one and hit something else). - Curdis !

The problem with a question about a "global destablizer" is that it's in large part relative to the people in charge, and can change in a short period of time. I witnessed Eisenhower to Kennedy, Carter to Reagan and Bush to Clinton, but I never thought to see such a break with everything common to a unified past in the US as I've seen under George W.

I whole heartedly agree with you about the context of the question.

As for the platypus, well never judge anything by its appearences.

And for the kangaroo, we almost got hit by a red kangaroo once, when we went for a trip inland a while ago.

Whilst being too young to comment about the changes in the US governments. I don't even remember the Gulf War.

I have seen the changes in Israel, and to me thats a cause of concerns.

I chose other because I think every nation on Earth is dangerous in some way or another. Few have total control over anything and with those who do, that can change overnight.
