Mine is classified as cluster migraine according to my neurologist. Something like, when it rains, it POURS. :(

It's always the right side of my head that gets painful. More often occurred on a particular time of the day. Was forced to file an LOA for a semester cause I ended up at that time not being able to go to class.
Maharlika, I really feel for you :( Cluster migraine is a horribly painful type of headache, probably one of the worst pain conditions in general. :( Do you use any treatment, profylactic or acute? Have you tried the auto-injections of sumatripan or oral zolmitriptan? (Those are the substance names, not the brand name the medicine is sold under since brand names differ from country to country.)

And yes, MRI is more advance than CAT :) The CAT uses X-rays, whereas the MRI uses a magnetic field and a radio wave. MRI has better contrast and is much better on detecting pathology in tissue.

My worst illness...

....was pneumonia. I caught it when I was 18 and doing my time in the military.
I got something like + 39°C of fever and lost about 15 kilograms (~30 pounds ?? ) of weight in 3 weeks. (I could REALLY use something like that NOW ;) )

No worries,

I had to have an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imagery) which showed my brain in different cross-sections and lateral "cuts." Just to make sure that there is nothing serious to be worried about. Saw my brain. Pretty cool, if I may say so myself. I think CE knows more on MRI. It's somehow more improved than Catscan?

My dad gets migraines often. He also got sent to a neurologist. He was first prescribed Moltrin, but that didn't do enough, so they prescribed something else for him. His migraines will start, often in the middle of the night, then get progressively worse as the day goes by. IIRC, for him they last about 8-10 hours, maybe longer. If he takes something soon enough after it starts, it doesn't get as bad, though.

I constantly have at least a minor headache. I've gotten so used to it that I generally ignore it. Sometimes it gets worse and so I take something for it. Used to, the only thing that would work was Excedrin. But that stopped being effective. Now I take the Moltrin that my dad had left over(he hadn't taken much of it before they switched him to something else). Most the time, though, I don't take something, even when it gets worse. IT's only when it's affecting my ability to do things that I take anything for it. I have gotten migraines twice that I know of. Both times the pain got so bad that it made me feel nauseated. After I threw up, the pain went away.

I had pneumonia last year. Thought I was gonna die. Started out with the flu...temperature went up to 104, stayed around 103 for 4 days in a row. Finally, my SO dragged me to the ER. Everywhere in the ER, there were signs telling me that if I was uninsured (which I am), they would only stabilize me then I had to get the hell out. Passed out during the chest Xray. I was so weak. Took over a month to recover. They gave me some high-powered new antibiotic, b/c pneumonia is now resistant to penicillin. Hope I don't get it again....

Wow some of you really got sick, the worst time I ever got sick was when I had some really bad ear infections, had them since I was a little kid, never could seem to get rid of them, so anyway when I was a little kid of abou two or three(yes I remember back that far, painful memories usually tend to be remembered), I had ear infections so bad that I was literally deaf, they thought I had Gargoylism at first but I simply could not hear, and was in constant pain because my ears were always hurting, so anyway they first put little grommits in my ears, to try and drain the infection, this involves surgery on the ears, that did not work next, they used air pressure rods to try and push out the ear infection, that worked but it was extremely painful, needless to say I have had frequent rebouts of the bloody things ever since, never can seem to quite get rid of it. Still nursing this bloody cold, but listening to all your sick stories makes me feel a little better, probably have to take of my Sci processes class tomorrow, maybe by the end of the week I will be healthy again, oh well had a paper I did not want to do anyway, have asked my teacher to postpone it, so I can hopefully get it done.

Health to you all. :)

@CE: Thanks. :)
My neuro prescribed naprosen (generic name?) which should be taken PRIOR to the onset of the migraine itself. Once the migraine sets in, the medicine would have no effect. My doc advised me to be more proactive than reactive, therefore giving me medicines that will prevent the migraine from happenning. Intrestingly, she told me NOT to ANTICIPATE its coming (psychosomatic?) at a certain time.

My attacks still occur every year, but not as often as the first one. As soon as my right nostril begins to clog and I feel a little throbbing of my right temple, I take my medicine right away.

*looks at the term proFYLactic, then snickers* Funny, I remember this term. A friend asked me what my neuro prescribed for my migraine and I used this term in reply: profylactics. He laughed and said my doc recommended me to use condoms (prophylactics). :D

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "grind your teeth." I've heard the phrase before, but as yet have no real idea of what it means to grind one's teeth. :o

Uh... I think it's pretty self-explanatory. One gnashes one's teeth together very hard making a grinding sound (it is often seen as a sign of frustration, hence the phrase, but many people do it in their sleep). My father did it a lot in his sleep and it drove my mom nuts.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, a lot of that simple stuff confuses me, okay? :p :o

Very rarely, and only if I've been eating something that is very chewy or requires a lot of chewing, which doesn't happen to me often. My parents are annoyed with the rarity of this because it's one of the few things that gets me to shut up. ;) :o

well, i've had a few inflictions. i was hospitalized on multiple occassions for asthma as a child. including having to be medi-vac'd to a hospital with more advanced facilities. i almost died of carbon dioxide poisoning that day. all my veins were collapsing and they couldn't get an IV going to get oxygen in and there was no way to let the CO2 out.

I also had soem bizarre gall bladder disorder. it went all weird on me and i couldn't keep anything down, not even water. finally once i fell unconscious, my friends took me to the ER. they ran three full bags of saline at full gauge in a row and i didn't even get the slightest urge to piss. i was messed up pretty bad, i wasn't allowed to eat any fats or oils for the next week or so since my gall bladder was messed up and not producing my bile for me to emulsify them.
i really don't remember what exactly was wrong...but boy did it suck.

but the worst i've ever been sick..it was me, my friend jack, and a a couple coolers full of beer out at the lake. my lord, you have never seen projectile puke like this in your life. blood, all kinds of chunky things that i can only assume were tissue from somewhere in my body. and then soem weird black and white stuff started spewing forth by the end of hours upon hours of hurling. if we hadn't been in highschool at the time and way out in the middle f nowhere, i am thinking i should have gone to the hospital.
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor
