Is Dusk Till Dawn that movie, where you don't see the vampires until the last 30 minutes or so?

Yes it is

@CE, Dottie & fable The matrix is nonesense, but it is vaguely entertaining (well i thought so) the problem is that the film soon became supposedly intellectual. So one expects it to form some kind of philisophical backbone, or at least have believable characters and an interesting plot, none of which is supplies.

The best thing about the whole film is Morpheus' shuffle when fighting with Neo (

), it is just so cool

Although i must say that Laurence Fishburn is very good in his role as usual

@Ned, i usually watch Kung Fu movies for that kind of entertaining nonesense

I just figured I'd conccentrate my flack, above. Now that we've eviscerated Matrix, it's time to move on.

My wife has had Pretty Woman for some time on video, but I actually got a chance to watch it last year while at a conference. Having finished the books I'd brought for fun, with no appetite for music or company at the time, I turned the tv on--and there it was.

And you're right. It's horrible. It's the visual equivalent of very bad romance novels, complete with all the cliches that implies: The pseudo-serious/realistic background, which is so much nonsense. The stinking rich, incredibly handsome bad boy. The apparently unsophisticated hooker, who actually has a heart of gold, great morals, and the ability to learn fast. (Sure, plenty of hookers are actually just diamonds in the rough with wonderful, supportive personalities, looking for men to save.) The glossy, plastic unreal society that cocoons the pair, lacking all points of reference to the realworld. The sudden appearance of a threat which is only serious until the evil-now-good boyfriend shows up. The sugary ending. Even Johanna Lindsey (whose bestselling garbage novels, each identical the others, I detest) could have written better.

I've a story about Lindsey, with exasperating and comic elements in it. Maybe one day I'll tell it, in some thread or other.

Put together a lame plot, with moderate acting, lots of violence, some critters, a couple of sexy broads and voila, a cult film has been made. It became supposedly intellectual? Are you kidding me? What in that movie could possible be interpreted as intellectual or philosophical? That there might be reality behind the reality we experience and with our senses? That issue has only been discussed for the last 2500 years...

I agree that Lawrence Fishburne was good though - as always

Did you see him in Othello, I thought he was doing the role magnificently.

When I watch movies I don't like at a cinema I usually fall asleep, but Pretty women made me too angry to sleep.
