soloin' monk
soloin' monk
i'm soloing a monk through SoA/ToB and seem to be doing fine...cept one lil prob, i can't open locked chests. Usually i can force a door but not chests...i tried most things i could think of...am i misssing sumthing or this the way it goes?
Yes , locked items are one downside to the solo monk . All you can do is save your giant str potions . On the upside , there are no "must" open items that cant be forced , so you will never get stuck. I also noticed there were really no items usually by the monk that were locked and unattainable. Good luck! , i did a monk also , but got stuck on the chromatic demon

Soloing monk is great fun, I had that problem you're facing too, you can:
use the spell "Draw Upon Holy Might", it should be one of your special abilities, and just bash the lock
change to the demon (i forget what you're called when you change) and bash it that way
some belt of ______ giant strength, i think the frost, but not sure. Wear it and bash the lock
find aerie, equip her with "knock" and use her just for the lock and ditch her
when i soloed i couldn't use spells/scrolls....

Hey Fubd, that wasnt a burn, just more of, ok, so it was kinda flamish
Wildmage, mmm, sounds fun.
Think of all the craziness with the kinda spell casting req'd to solo a mage.
Cool
Problem is I took out ToB for TDD.
Maybe I'll try something from there.

The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

Dude,
I am in underdark as a solo monk. Its so boring man. I become too powerful and there is nothing I can't kill easily. I am immune to normal weapon and high magic resistant with items.
I don't think soloing is a good idea. You level up too fast and become too powerful. After you become too powerful and already know the plot, you just go thru the motions.

Use a protection from undead scroll (found in many temples/shops). Enter the tomb with the body parts and the scroll. Use the scroll, then click on the sarcophagus.Originally posted by Akubi:
Help me!!!
I am soloing monk. How to kill kargaxx second form? The main problem is the imprisonment spell he casts.
Beat on his lich form until he's 'near death', then back off a bit to let him transform to his demi-lich incarnation.
The demi-lich form requires +4 weapons... and I can't remember if/when a monk's fists are considered +4, so you might need a suitable weapon.
Two easy to acquire weapons considered +4, available in chapter 2, are the Staff of Rhynn +4 (Ribald's) and the Flame Tongue long-sword (loot from a druid adherent in the Druid Grove map). Can't remember if a monk can use a staff or not, but I think they can use long-swords.
Hope this helps.

You mean besides the Flame Tongue longsword (Druid Grove) and the Staff of Rhynn (Ribald) I mentioned? ;-)Originally posted by Akubi:
no no, imprisonement is not the main problem. I just can't hurt the Kangaxx in second form. What simplest weapon can hurt him?
Some other weapons that will hurt kangaxx are:
Staff of the Magi (Twisted Rune)
Mace of Disruption +2 (Ch. 3)
Sling of Everard (Julov)
Boneblade (dagger - Underdark)
Cutthroat (short-sword - UD)
Wave (halberd - UD)
Dragon's Breath (halberd - UD)
Soul Reaver (2-handed sword - UD)
Spear of Withering (UD)
Blackmist (halberd - UD)
Crom Faeyr (Ch. 6)
Short Bow of Gensen (Ch. 6)
Carsomyr (2-h sword)
Angruvadal (long sword - Watcher's Keep)
Staff of the Ram (WK)
Hindo's Doom (katana - WK)
Spells:
Melf's Minute Meteors
Black Blade of Disaster (Ch. 6)
Energy Blades
Some other items/spells that I can't remember. Obviously not all of these are available to a monk. ;-)
