Can you believe the Netherlands got sent packing. I was going to be pulling for them this cup. They were the highlight of '98 except for the French who played almost to perfection.

They did play brilliantly. I am a firm England backer, and hope they can advance past the group of death.

@McBane. I did have to laugh at Tommo's comment. His other comment ..."nobody likes being criticised, particularly by players who will be in Disneyland this summer on their holidays rather than the World Cup in Japan."..was equally amusing.

That's great! I hadn't seen that one. Tommo is one a roll. :D :D

Wine: Merlot. I prefer dry wines, but can handle the sweet stuff.

Vodka: Mixed with lemonade. I'm sure this sounds horrible :) It's delicious, a little ice, some sugar free lemonade mix (with water) and one has a light/refreshing drink :) As a plus, being that I've been known to open a bottle of wine (and three times now!) spill it all over the living room carpet before getting to have even one glass, this vodka/lemonade mix leaves no stain :D

At bars of course, one drinks whatever's there, or whatever your date hands you. It all starts to taste equally good after awhile...

 ;)

Ned: ROFL!!! My cousins are Wisconsinites...They do seem the types to have come from the drinking capital of the states! :D

@Grunt,

you guys hiring, I like the 'we make so much money part' and if it leads to binge drinking 'it sounds like a good time as well'. :D

Well I shouldn't drink, but I do. My parents have always been open with it though, as long as I don't go stupid and get wrecked they are happy for me to drink in moderation. My preferences are lager (generally Foster's occasionally the odd Stella), Jack Daniel's neat on the rocks, WKD Blue and sometimes Smirnoff Ice. I don't drink Vodka (never had it! :D ) and I've never tried Guiness, is it worth it?

It's Belgian, it's beer, it's a bugger to get hold of, it's made with chocolate. hell yeah.

but if all else fails, tesco's own brand economy cider will do me just fine :D

Here in the US, as it's been said, the legal age is 21. If I were back at home in my castle on Titan, then I would be the one deciding what the legal age limit is. ;) :D

Funny, this question comes up right now... My housemate is preparing for her birthday party this Saturday AND Sunday, so our house is filled with alcohol and anything green at the moment. :D

Anyway, my favourites are:

Beer--Anything, but most frequently Guinness, Caffrey's, or good old New Castle.
Wine--Rioja, good Mosel (too cheap one tastes cheap), or anything I fancy when I see in the shop.

Occasionally:
Scotch/Irish Whiskey
Cider (I've got 2 liter bottle of local cider under my desk :D )
Bailey's

Of course, I drink Sake if I were in Japan.

Have I missed something?
