Well, I had to reformat my hard drive again after my pc crashed while trying to download the Wizardry 8 demo. I restarted while it was still writing to the drive and kept getting disk write errors, and a whole lot of file clusters were damaged.
Anyway, since reformating and reinstalling Win ME, every time I reboot the computer, my 3COM USB network card is disabled. I have to unplug it and replug it in for the computer to recognize it. This seems to have occurred after installing Sound Blaster's drivers and playcenter. Looked at the BIOS to figure out if there was an IRQ conflict, but it all looks normal. Here's my specs:
ASUS A7V-Via Apollo KT133A motherboard
AMD Athlon 800mhz CPU
Seagate Barracuda 80gig ATA100 hard drive
Sound Blaster Live Xgamer 5.1
Geforce 2 GTS video card w/32 MB RAM
128 MB SDRAM
3COM USB Network Adapter Card
Linksys Ethernet router
cable modem
HP Deskjet 895Cxi printer
Win ME

USB network card, i didn't know such a thing existed, what does it do? Does it act like a normal network card?Originally posted by VoodooDali

(excuse my ignorance)
Have you tried going into safe mode and looking under the USB devices to see what is there.

I've tried switching to a different port, but I have the same problem. The printer is a USB printer, and I"m not having that problem with the printer. Very strange, huh? Also, when I was setting up the system again, I'd installed the mb drivers, nvidia detonator, the cable internet software, and of course, the USB network card driver. The problem did not occur until after I then installed Sound Blaster's drivers and Creative Playcenter 2.0. This made me suspect it was an IRQ problem, but could not find anything remiss in the BIOS.

Try uninstalling the DOS driver of the SBLive card, it has been known to cause lots of problems, it might be worth checking Creatives site as well.Originally posted by VoodooDali
