If you haven't read it yet, everyone should read We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young by LGEN Hal Moore (USA, ret.) and Joe Galloway. It's about the first major battle between the First Cavalry Division (Airmobile) and the NVA in the Ia Drang Valley. We Were Soldiers is one of the finest books about Vietnam to ever make it to print, plus the movie is coming out in March (starring Mel Brooks as then-LTC Moore, Sam Elliott as SGM Basil Plumley, Greg Kinnear as MAJ Bruce Crandall and Chris "Oz" Klein as 2LT Jack Geoghegan).

Someone suggested The Talisman by Stephen King; how about his new one, Black House, written with Peter Straub?...
I like ghost stories, so I'd tend to recommend any horror fiction
