How to reach the XPcap

I started on BG2, done almost all quests and killed almost all monsters (I just didn´t touch the new areas opened after the Underdark). I kept Minsc, Jaheira, Yoshimo and Aerie since the beginning, traded Jan for Valgyar once I went to Umar Hills and got Imoen to fill the blank left by the traitor, Yoshimo.
Then I started Throne of Bhaal, swaped Sarevok in instead of Valgyar and did every single quest, killed every monster and even spent some time killing re-spawning Fire Giants to collect XP.
I finished the game and no one had reached 6 million XP. I played on Core difficulty.
Is there any way a 6 men party can reach the 8 million cap without spending hours at Saradush´s wall killing invisible Fire Giants? Also, I didn´t steal the Deck of Many Things, I played with the Cambion and got 91k xp per character. Would I end getting more if I fought him and his friends, then using it to get that 1000k xp? Can I do it and still get the Spectral Brand and the Scroll of Wish?

Have less then 6party members in you're team,
you should be able to reacht the SoA ex-Cap with 6members, but i don;t think the ToB with 6members!

I thought ToB's cap was set so that a 6-member party wouldn't reach it without exploiting spawn points, and that a 5-member party might just (or just not) reach the 8,000,000.

play for spectral brand and wish scroll, then summon abotu 4 swords, haste them, and say somethin nasty...they go hostile and sword chop up...giggle...
