Weapons

Post by Lelio »

Which weapons do you end ToB with? Do you eqiup your whole party with weapons that are +4 and above, just because you like lots of high numbers and are able to do so? Or do people stick with the lower numbers, merely +3, but weapons that stun for example?

Do you give up on the lowely Celestial Fury, and stick to more damaging weapons, or is that stun feature rated at all?

At the moment, i am in Sendai's lair, my duel weilding cavalier carries Celestial Fury +3 and Usunos Blade +4. Minsc duel weilds Storm Star +5 and Foebane +5, and kicks ass everywhere, while Keldorn carries Carsomyer +6.

This issue did not really matter to me the first time i went through the game, as i was a thief and simply carried the best two short swords i could get (Cutthroat and the upgraded Sword of the Mask).

What are the best rated weapons in the whole game now, it is still the awsome Crom Faeyr or Carsomyr or is it something else?

Keldorn: Carsomyr +6
Minsc: Flail of Ages +5, Crom Faeyr +5
PC sorc: Firetooth dagger +3 (when not using energy blades)
Jaheira: Spectral Brand +4
Aerie: Sling of Everard +5 (when not using energy blades)
Imoen: Thaseron's Bow +3 (when not using energy blades)

Mostly stuff you got in SoA, upgraded by Cespanar. I unfortunitly didn't have anyone to use Axe of Unyeilding.

The above (as far as needed) plus Staff of the Magi and firetooth crossbow.

I also keep Daystar and Mace of Disruption +2 during the whole game as backup weapons against undead.

I'm not gonna use Carsomyr this time, because
- I'm lacking a Paladin,
- My halfling f/t with a two handed sword would look like Sergej Bubka
- I probably ain't gonna dual class Sarevok to thief this time.

I only keep weps that do special ability, enough to justify keeping as a sorta wand like item, like ilbratha for mirror image as area effect protection for minsc, and stuff like staff of thunder and lightning, you can cast lightning strike indoors!!!

rest of the tiem you need +5 weps to hit nasty critters, like bathezar.

my sorc/assassin/kensai/elder orb beholder pc uses holy avenger
+6 for magic resistance...

with hell, lum, and other items, I get up to 95%

holy avenger is too good to give to paladins... :p

Desaix (Inquisitor): Carsormyr +6 or Angurvadal +5 or Flail of Ages +5 (in that case using a good shield)
Minsc: dual wielding Crom Faeyr and either Axe of the Unwielding +5, Runehammer +5 or Stormstar +5
Sarevok: Ravager +6 or Psion´s Blade or Firetooth +5
Jaheira: Spectral Brand +5 or Sling of Evereard
Aerie: Staff of the Ram +6 or Erinne Sling +5
Imoen: Staff of the Magi or Tuigan´s Bow (could switch to Gesen´s Bow if needed)

Abazigal: "Oh my god! They killed Yaga-Shura!"
Sendai: "You bastards!"

Leonardo, try giving jahier a staff of ram and use greater whirlwind with a str belt...a good one, you will be amazed..the char with the highest str belt should use sling of seeking with +3-+4 bullets, you will be amazed when you hit greater whirlwind, think machine gun...

I would give Jaheira an Staff, but I needed someone to use a shield (not that I REALLY need, but I felt bad letting all those good shields unused) :D
I had to restrain myself to not give her the staff I got in Suldanessalar that can only be used by druids. She used Belm so well, so far...
For the Sling, I was already using Evereard and Arvoreen (later switched with Erinne) and was afraid to run out of bullets before I discovered that the bag of plenty existed :( , so I left that sling behind and was unable to get it back after startig Throne of Bhaal. I plan to give it to Viconia on my second run, with different NPCs (probably Korgan, Jan, Viconia and Edwin)

With the two bags of holding and other multi holdalls I basically have the inventory slots for each character be like their golf caddie. If you have your best proficency in clubs, you have all the clubs in the game (including a non-magical one) so as to have some variety.

I had to give Jan a girdle of hill giant strength so he could carry ALL  of those staffs - Curdis !
The warlord sig of 's' - word

Making a reappearance for those who have a sig even longer

I had my assassin wield Celestial Fury through most of ToB. My assassin used Hindo's Doom during the battle with Balthazar and the final battles with Mellisan, since the protection from Death Magic came in handy and most of the end bosses were immune to Stun anyway.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
