Hello Again

Post by VoodooDali »

Hello all. It's been so long since I posted to SYM. I've had a lot of computer woes. My hard drive (a Maxtor) finally died--would not spin. May it RIP. I ordered a new hard drive (a Seagate), but because of the holidays, it took a long time to get to me. At the same time, Excite.com filed Chap. 11 bankruptcy, so that my ISP (Comcast) had to migrate everyone over to new servers. I was not able to go online for the first 2 1/2 weeks of January!!! To top it all off, I could not even play games, because they would freeze instantly. After I was finally able to go on the net, the culprit for that problem turned out to be that the puter needed new drivers for the motherboard. Now everything's hunky dory.

I bought Empire Earth. It really didn't turn out to be as cool as it could have been. AoE it ain't. I wonder if Civ III is better.

How is everyone???

Hi, @VD. Good to see you, again, although I'm sorry to hear about your computer travails.

Yes, Empire Earth is a pretty poor game in many respects, and its sales haven't justified all the advertising they poured into it. On the other hand, Civ III is pretty good. Personally, I'm still more impressed by Patrician II and Europa Universalis II. You might want to check 'em out, if you want a strategic 4x game.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Guh! I send a silent praise to the computer gods for not being targeted every time i hear about such problems.

And im alive :)

btw: Havnt tried Patrician 2 but EU and EU2 are really excellent games. (although my mighty swedish army are starving to death outside the walls of St :P etersburg right now :( )

i thought Empire Earth was okay. not what i expected, but still a fairly good game. though replayability is a bit limited and the ai cheats like hell.

I like the double meaning when posted that way. But you are right.

@VD: I have seen the light, and so can you. Follow the way of the great one, join the ranks of COMM. The only true path. The path of The Weasel.

Hello Voodoo, and welcome back, it's nice to see you haven't given up SYM! :)

I have also been away for a while (because of my work) but I started posting again the last few days.
