I've got a couple of things on my mind:
1. I want my character to be fully specialised in 2 weapons, the 2 handed sword and the staff. Will there be enough exp points to be fully specialised in bolth? Or is this different from BG?
2. Will weapon styles be better balanced then in BG2 and TOB? An 2 handed weapon style (sword and staff) will be cool, but will the dual handed weapon style be so overpowerd as in BG or is this compensated in the 3rd edition rules?
3. Where do you get all your info?

Guinness is good for you.
Gives you strength.
Gives you strength.
ad 1:
The specialisation system has changed since 2.ed (BG2) so you no longer uses profencies like them.
You know get weapons you are profient with (Simple, martial, exotic etc - I'll leave it up to others to tell you which is what, since I don't have the PHB) and can choose some feats that will increase your effectivness with these.
You'll, as you level, also get better "to hit".
ad 2) Don't know.
ad 3) well - everywhere

There are also feats to allow you to become proficient/specialised with weapons.
2) Two-handed weapons will add more of your strenght bonus (1.5 times), while Two-weapons fighting will give you more attacks.
Also, you need three feats (Two-weapon fighting, Improved Two weapon fighting and ambidexterity) and a light weapon in the off hand to use Two-weapons fighting at its fullest.
