Machine of lum the mad(possible spoiler)
How many points to your attributes can the "machine of lum the mad" add??
Blasted Bloody Humans. -Korgan
only 1 in each attribute, atleast if you go for the combos on the notes. if someone feels like testing the rest of them (i belive there are 721 or so) it would be fun to know about it

1 in each attribute, yes.
5% permanent magic resistance.
Stormstar mace +3 (upgradeble by Cespenar).
Most of the other combinations are harmful, but there are some random positive effects like getting 100K XP and some potions. However, save before you try other combinations, since the random effects include imprisonment and permanent loss of stats.

I sort of remember one that sets all your stats to 3. Bummer. I think I also scored 500k or 1M XP's on some push, turn, and screw.
** humor or stupidity below **
My first time through I collected the notes throughout the keep and got the note with the combo to open the portal to the next level. After dealing with all the baddies on the level and carston, I decided to use the machine in combo with all the slips of paper I found. I got +1 in this, +1 in that, a nice mace, and then I saved so I could experiment. Well, I never memorized the combo to open the portal, however, ironically, the first experiment combo I tried was the combo to open the portal. I LMAO when I did it because I wasn't trying to open the portal, I was waiting for some mysterious, horrible, side effect. What are the odds of pulling that off. I guess, 721 to 1 as stated below.

Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.
i think i miscalculated that. the ods for pulling any spesific combination are 729 i think. but the its 9 combos you already know the result of wicht makes 720 combos to look for, ofcourse you could also try the same combo multiple times

Although there are a lot of possible compinations, there are only 19 possible outcomes. There's the 9 set outcomes and 10 randoms; the 9 everyone knows about:
- 6 Stats increases
- Magic Resistance increases
- Open Portal
- Receive Storm Star
The 10 random effects are:
- Imprisonment
- 50 points Fire damage
- Flesh to Stone
- Receive 1 potion of Superior Healing
- Lose 1 Intelligence point
- Take 75 points Electrical damage
- Receive 1 million experience points
- Lose 1 Dexterity point
- Poison, last 60 seconds (not sure how many points of damage per second, the spell have it at 0, so it might be nothing)
- Lose 15 levels
Edit - Nothing changed, I thought of changing the mistake but that would makes the posts below this look weird, so I just re-edit it back to what it was.

That 1M XP looks tempting, but it's random? No cheap & easy River of XP(TM)?
The other effects are, ah, slightly discouraging.

Yeah, the 10 effects are random. If you press a combination of 3 that does not give you any of the 9 set outcomes then there is 1/10 chance of getting the one of the 10 effects listed. Another thing is that these 10 can happen as often as needed, not like the 9 where each can only occur once.
I'm not sure whether the stats and magic resistance increase can only happen once for the party or once per character. Since they set a Global variable that let the game knows it have already been given. Anyone know?

@Sabre
It's not 1M XP; at least in my games, i received 100K for the char who used the machine.
Also, i've been level drained for 15 levels many times, and it never actually happened ( i don't remember if my game was patched by then, but the patch doesn't say that it fixes that...)

Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

IIRC I also got 100L XP for 1 char. But the same char in the same game also lost 15 levels - that did actually happen. My game was patched with the official patch.Originally posted by King Leoric:
