Planetars and Devas
Planetars and Devas
Greetings fellow members of the forums, I am in need of help here. I read in this forum that multiple planetars and devas can be summoned together. Yet why is it that I could only summon 1 planetar or deva at a time in my game?

Cast project image and have the image summon as many as you can. cast dispell magic on yourself, as the image, then your image vanishes.
repeat.
Once in windspear hills, for the really tough werewolf fight, I summoned 20! Absolute limit for all summons is 5!
A projected image can exceed the creatuer summon limit.

The basic script for planetars and devas are pretty simpistic and as such they tend not to use their spells of their own accord unless a vary specific situation comes along, eg when your party has taken a fair amount of damage a deva will occasional do a mass heal spell all by itself.
As to why they don't use spells when you tell them to I have found that there script sometime gets in the way for example you tell a deva to cast a spell and half way through casting it changes to attacking something because that something attacked the deva. etc.
I do believe that it has been previously mentioned that there are improved scripts available for deva and planatars but I have no idea who created them or where to get them from.

Just remember, everyone is entitled to my opinion

Johnny, I am a 25th level sorc/23th level munchkin and 6th level maniac!
Sorcs rule!
I had jsut seen 12 skeleton warriors get munched by the greater werewolves in the dragon hills so I prepared an army to hack and slice them up to bits.
The most planetars I've summoned are 5, for demogorgon, but I have a restraint rule on my summons. only for demons do I summon planetars, for everyone else I use regular summons. I do't think its possible to summon 20 planetars and use them in battle without having your force disappear half way thru.
I just think its wrong to summon planetars for most foes, thats what inv stalker and skeletons are for, and swords, and I usually summon thesedays five or less. been trying out inv and haste to sqeeze max benefit out of them. Planetars should be reserved for their natural foes, hellspawn, thus its the duty of the angelic plantars to fight demons, so I only summon planetars to fight demons and possibly dragons. though swords work well for dragons hasted and inv.
I've taken out the liches in shade lord with enough skeleton warriors, just kept casting more until symbol death ran out.

The improved script VASTLY improves all other summons except planetars and devas.
The script makes the planetars use their spells. Nice in theory, but they cast mostly cleric spells, and cleric spells are slow. They seem to have a preference for flame strike, which is pretty dumb, because the damage that a flame strike can do is pretty trivial compared to their RAW AND UNTAMED MELEE POWER !!!!!!!. They don't make use of the improved invis. that they have, which I suppose is pretty damn hard to code, because if they cast it on your mage, and suddenly your mage can't target himself with protections, or your cleric can't target healing spells on that guy who's getting whomped on, it could turn nasty.
BUt for all other summons, the improved creature ai patch is nothing short of a blessing.
