Looking for plot spoiler for Watcher's Keep

Post by Yuusuke »

Spoiler

Okay, I got all the way down to the Imprisoned One, but the plot has my head going in circles. Are the Knights of Vigil really the Knights of Vigil, or imposters? I did Know Alignment on them and they're all Neutral, like true Helm followers.

One of the notes I found talks about the guy being betrayed by them, and the note is cnturies old, so are they immortal? And what is the deal with the Imprisoned One talking about how they really fear something or other and something other so they didn't want to come in themselves?

Basically I'm totally lost as to why everyone is doing and saying what they are.

Ha! I just posted on your thread in SOA with some tactics, but I told you to go over here for plot!

As I understand it, the Knights of the Vigil are really knights of Helm who were instructed to breach the lair of the imprisoned one and re seal it so that the imprisoned one would be held for another thousand years. unfortunately the only way to seal the lair is from the inside, sealing yourself in as well. They basically chickened out and are trying to trick you into doing it so they don't have to - they figure since you're baalspawn the world would be better off without you, too. So there are several resolutions to the quest. You can actually NOT kill the imprisoned one - this makes Helm happy becuase by killing it you set it free - better to keep it imprisoned. But where's the fun in that? I say kill it, set it free whatever, it's not gonna forget YOU for awhile that's for sure! There are some strategies around for how to maximize EXP from this little adventure, I am currently in a game in TOB where I am right in this part of the keep too, so maybe I can post some info on that tonight or tomorrow.

And hey! you might want to check out my thread on "opening the 3 seals all at once". C'mon, are you feeling it?!?!

Thanks, and yes I already read your 3 seals post. Part of being a good adventurer is adventuring smart. Opening all three seals at once...just isn't the act of a super genius if you ask me. :D BTW, my party is:

Me: Kensai/mage 13/28
Korgan: 40
Viconia: 40
Haer'Dalis: 24 :D
Imoen: 30 <give or take> about 5 million exp
Yon Yonsen: max'ed not sure what the levels are.

As you can see, milking the most amount of exp out of this quest isn't my greatest concern right now. My problem is that my protag is getting wailed on by two Mariliths and ImpO. And my best weapon on him is only a +4 (which hits him), because I haven't started the REAL ToB yet.

What spells should I be using to protect myself? I have Absolute Immunity, but I've never tried it, never had to. My kensai/mage has every spell in the game except for Imprisonment and one of the new levle 8 ToB spells, I forget which.

BTW, I don't have the Improved Patch installed. He summons two Mariliths, more than enough imo.

Well, it's fun anyway :) I you read the original thread where I got the idea, it came about by necessity. Actually you don't have to fight ANY of the seals gangs at all, nor do you have to fight imprisoned one.

Hmmmm.... Well it seems like your party is in pretty good shape. I am going to be doing some work on this battle tonight so I will post some tactics then, but I am at work now, so I can't really investigate it. I think the mariliths cast protection from magic weapons, so maybe try breaching them and then pounding them. Have Jan, HD, and Imoen work the wands of spell striking while you and Korgan make like ginsu s :D
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

Okay, I did it, finally. Absolute Immunity just earned a permanent slot in my spell book. BTW, he mentioned some sort of reward if I tell the knights to come down. Of course being the Child of the God of Murder, I just went along with my moniker and ignored his demands. What is the reward? :p

The problem I had earlier was I let the fight drag on too long. He started summoning Glaberzi, by the half-dozen, round after round. That was the problem, also, it seems like if the fight goes past a certain number of rounds, he starts going into super Stoneskin mode, recasting one after another before I can even Breach it.
