Oh, you're serious? :p Barkskin is not wood. The spell gives a natural armor bonus, meaning it makes the skin more impervious to damage. With Barkskin, what that means is that the skin is toughened, becoming barklike. Steelwood has no effect on barkskin. Check the spell description -- it may not have any effect on living wood, either. No steelwood Treants, for example. ;)
