....with lows in the lower 40s. I actually can’t walk around my house in my shorts anymore! I may have to turn on the heat! Gosh, Winter is so horrible here in sunny Arizona. :p :p :D

Typical Tucson conversation:

Saw a scorp. (We call 'em 'scorps' to sound casual)
What kind?
Bark.
Bite ya?
Yeah.
So, you're gonna die, huh?
Yeah.... urk! :D

We had a scorpion in one of our bedrooms. My wife caught it in a jar and brought it to me while I was in the shower. "Is this a scorpion?" she asks. "Yes" I said with greater calm than I felt. I later took it to the biologists at work, who argued over its identification, eventually deciding it was a baby Tiger Scorpion. They kept it as a pet. Crazy biologists. :D

LOL! sounds like the Japanese attitude towards earthquakes. I recall being in the middle of teaching an English lesson once when the ground began to shake and the overhead light to sway. I was about to duck under a desk when my students casually said, "don't worry, it's just an earthquake, we have them all the time...."

Earthquakes, scorpions, etc. I guess it doesn't pay to get too freaked about these things. Just do what you can, and hope for the best. :)

my parents had over a dozen scorpions in their house this past summer.

All I ever get in my house are house spiders and grasshoppers. I'm having mixed feelings... Happiness and dissapointment.

We actually had a high in the mid 60's today--in New Jersey. Atypical for this time of year, and it's supposed to last for a few more days. Wonderful spore-growing weather. :)
