What will USians be doing tomorrow?

Post by fable »

Yes, tomorrow is the most important day of the year for US citizens. We all go down on our knees before anyone who has made a small fortune and offer to donate our children to them for a smile.

Well, okay...perhaps not that. (Though the idea is there in our culture. Trust me.) Actually, it's the day that's arbitrarily celebrated as the founding of the nation, or at any rate, a nation, since some people, at various times, have tried to secede from it in the same spirit in which the US seceded from Britain, only to be killed.

I'm wandering off course. Anyway, I was just wondering what other USians are going to be doing this July 4th? :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I suppose I could say that I was killed and got better, but none of you would be crazed enough to believe me.

What you do with that finger is between you and your doctor. We don't need to hear about it. :D

We are also going to grill hamburgers (with my semi-sentient +5 spatula) and then sit on our roof to try to see the city fireworks.

For the last five years, all the families of our cul-de-sac (and a few from the surrounding environs) get together for a mass cook-out and fireworks extravaganza. Beer and other libation of course flow freely
:D  ;) .

Unfortunately we'll have to keep it to a dull roar this year since most of us will have to return to work Thursday. :(

And what are you going to be doing other than complaining about being underfed, under housed, under paid and under appreciated?

BTW, did you have to study for a long time to get this cynical or does it just come naturally to you?

(Notice the absence of smilies.......)

Tomorrow I partake of the burger and salute my overbearing capitalist Super Power nation and it’s glorious crushing of various treasonous uprisings over the centuries. People should know when they’re conquered, after all. God bless America. ;) No fireworks here, since Alaska is like a tinderbox with all Spruce-bark beetles ruining the pine trees and fires ravaging the forests. :(
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Nah. It just comes from reading source documents in history, and comparing them to stated facts. Or do you mean that most Americans *don't* worship money as I goal of life? And that the US hasn't tried to exterminate (in the past) its former residents, and stop any chance at the same secession it successfully performed?

Uh, one other thing. I was also having some fun. :D ;)
