Order of the Dark Flame (Story, No Spam)
Vivien ran after Darkpoet, leaving Georgi behind with Gwalchmai and Waverly.
"Darkpoet! Wait!"
He didn't slow down, and seemed to be making very good speed for someone encumbered with all that armor. She had almost reached him when she tripped on a tree root which caused her to fall, her body rolling into Darkpoets, causing them to form a heap.
She sat up and blew the whisps of hair that were now falling around her face away and looked intently at Darkpoet as he pulled himself to his feet.
"Please don't leave. I know I don't always make the right choices, but I try to do what's right. I've known you longer than Enoch, and trust you more. I just... I couldn't hurt Gwalchmai... Please don't leave because I was afraid..."
She gave him a pleading glance as he helped her to her feet.

Waverly/Enoch looked at the odds taking shape and his hand drifted to the hilt of his sword. Georgi coudn't believe that this knight who had been so friendly with her just hours ago was now deadly serious, and on the opposing end of the argument.
Waverly/Enoch was quite sure he could kill Georgi at this time, but he would be spurned from the group. He made a show of leaving his weapon in its sheath and said to Georgi, "I implore you, we are friends here, let us just see this through without violence."
Better to be rid of them one at a time under more secretive circumstances, he was sure.

‘Gwalchmai’ shifted uneasily. Darkpoet had run off inexplicably as soon as he had been accused of being a traitor. That had been a wild shot in the dark to draw suspision off of ‘Gwalchmai’; anyone could have told him how many doplegangers there had been that night (ooc: he could have just read back a few pages in the script!
). But ‘Enoch’ had tried to shift suspicion rather quickly to Kramor. Was there something going on? Then Vivien ran off after Darkpoet, leaving ‘Gwalchmai’ essentially defenseless. This would have been a bad situation, except that now it looked like ‘Enoch’ and Georgi are almost ready to fight. Suspicion about ‘Gwalchmai’ seems to have been forgotten for the moment.
“Okay, if everyone is over all this nonsense, I suggest we all get on with what ever it is we are supposed to be doing.”

That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
"Well, not afraid for my life, I mean, who'd kill ME?"
She gave Darkpoet a quick grin, while checking her hair for more leaves.
"But, I am beginning to get afraid that... There just seems to be a lot of negativity and doubt for each other in the air. I also don't want my friends to get hurt... I'm afraid for them. Now, what say we head back to camp and I feed you one of my famous glazed strawberry tarts? Just don't ask where I got the strawberry's, a mage must have her secrets."

Loner awoke with a throbbing ache in her right shoulder blade, where the stalker's weapon had hit. Her arm was also bandaged, and stung pretty badly. Kramor was sitting on the floor, leaning against the cot, sleeping. His sword was drawn. Good, Loner thought. Strange things are going on in this camp...
Everything was quiet. No voices, no movement was to be heard. Where has everyone gone?... Loner had a bad feeling. She eased off the cot so as not to wake Kramor, and, wincing at the pain, she grabbed the Katana and went to the tent door. She saw no one. But the energy was very, very bad. Where has everyone gone?...

Waverly: If I recall correctly, *someone* wants to kill us one by one…now who could that be?
Are you sure you deserve special attention?

Vivien walked with Darkpoet back to the camp. With his assistance, she only managed to deviate from the normal path about a quarter of the time, which was much better than her usual ‘fifty percent lost’ rate. She deviated for a field of wild flowers which she put in her hair (and his though he protested), and because of this adventurous sidepath, she first noticed the rabbit stuck in the trap on the forest floor.
“Oh, you poor thing!"
She called while softly approaching the frightened creature.
“Viv, umm.. I don’t think we should bother this rabbit, I’m sure no good will come of it.” Darkpoet said while looking at the trees around them, a new truth dawning in his eyes.
“No, if we can we should help."
Through Darkpoet's protest as to the area not being a 'good place for a young woman', Viv knelt beside the rabbit trying to open the trap, but only received a bitten finger in response. The rabbits hind leg was quite securely caught, and twisted in an odd angle. Try as she might she could not open the trap.
“Umm…Viv, maybe it's just resting…”
“Maybe I can spell it?" She called, looking around for Darkpoet and seeing him several feet away standing with an exasperated expression on his face.
“Strawberry tart?” He asked with hope.
“Just a second, sweetie, I’ll try 'freedom' on it.”
Viv muttered a few words and white crystals flowed around them, shimmering and transparent. An odd sound occured, not like the rabbit being freed at all, and Thantor suddenly stumbled forward into view, his breathing noticeably strained. He seemed shaky, and Viv wondered how long he had been forced to stand imprisoned, with little or no hope of rescue. Viv tried to help him walk by slipping one arm around her shoulder, motioning for Darkpoet to take his other side, hoping to get Thantor back into the safety of the camp.
“I wonder what happened to him? Who would do this?” She asked Darkpoet with concern.
As the moved back to camp, she looked back, but the rabbit as well was gone. Feeling a bit reassured, she set her face towards 'home'.

jennabard could barely breath, she feared that the blow she took from anomen's attack broke a few ribs. when she's not gasping for breath, she's coughing up alot of blood. anomen and his hounds continue thier pursuit. only the combine will of jenna and her shadow kept her moving onward.

'Gwalchmai' looks around, listening to the sound of the river. Things seem quite peaceful, except for Loner stumbling about the camp, and an ashen-faced Thantor being dragged in by Vivien and Darkpoet (who has a little bit of strawberry jam on his lip). Yep. A quiet day.
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

(OOC peaceful, Gwalch? You wish...
BTW I thought Thantor was imprisoned...
)
Georgi spoke to Enoch, never taking her eyes off 'Gwalchmai'. "With respect, sir, we only just met. You don't know these people. I do. And I know this isn't Gwalchmai. And I'm not going to let this... thing skulk around here while my friend could be dying somewhere. This isn't your affair, Enoch. Go back to camp. Now." Enoch didn't move.
"You're out of your mind!" 'Gwalchmai' claimed. "You would turn on your own party like this..."
"SHUT UP YOU MONSTER!" Georgi screamed, losing her temper, and charging 'Gwalchmai'. The attack took him by surprise, and as he sidestepped, Georgi's sword sliced into his arm.
An anguished hiss came from 'Gwalchmai', as his true form returned. The doppelganger and Georgi circled each other, waiting for the next move.
"Well, Enoch, is this proof enough for you?" Georgi called to the knight. "Are you with me now?"

Who, me?!?
Waverly remeved his sword and in one graceful motion threw it at the imposter, impaling him neatly through the chest. The creature looked at Waverly with surprise, and died with that same look tranfixed upon it's face. As 'Gwalchmai' fell, Waverly's brilliant mythril sword swawed slowly and calmly like a banner in the breeze. As he retrieved it he glanced over a Georgi, "I'm sorry, my lady, I should have trusted your judgement." Tearing off a piece of his tunic, he gently blotted a small gash beginning to weep blood on Georgi's arm.

[OOC- Yeah, I thought Thantor was imprisoned as well!
Not a problem. I couldn't figure out how his imprisonment could be fixed anyway. Maybe Viv can perceive imprisoned people?]
[OOC again - In BG, I never understood why, when you so much as looked sideways at a doppleganger, they always lost their temper and transformed into their true form. So much for subtlety! Seems to me, that if I were a master of deception, I might stick to it a little longer instead of saying "Foolish Fleshlings" every time someone says "Hey, Billy-Bob, don't you recognize me?"
]
IC: The form of Gwalchmai turned into a reddish-gray goo and slowly slid into the swiftly moving current of the river. Only a ring was left on the ground where 'Gwalchmai' had been, gray silver with a dull white stone.
[OOC yet again: Waverly, what makes you think that a doppleganger keeps its vital organs in its chest?
