Remembrance Sunday

Post by Gruntboy »

For those of you who are not familiar with British customs, I shall be heading down to the Cenotaph on Sunday 11th November and hopefully waving an American flag. This for remembrance of the sacrifices of WWI/II and other 20thC conflicts - and now for me Sept. 11th 2001. Not jingoism or anything else.

So keep an eye out for me on TV if you can. I should be difficult to miss (not sure if the Rozzers will like me waving a US flag? - bloody hope not) Or if you're a supporter of Mr Laden, come and get me if you think you're hard enough. :D

I don't own a TV, so I couldn't watch you even if they showed that commemoration here in the States; but thanks for the support - you Brits are awesome. :)

What is a "Rozzer" - ? :o
A is A . . . but Siouxsie defies definition.

Well I have lived in London for nigh on 14 years and I didn't know what a Rozzer was - so fair play Lazarus for asking ;)

What I've been wondering, are the englisch afraid for terroristic actions since they are in the picture next to America?
How does everybody feel about Blair being so mutch on the foreground?

To be honest I hadn't really thought about us being attacked. We are hardly the strongest/richest nature out there but I suppose we are standing right beside the Americans. To be honest I am PROUD about how we have acted. Our aid and the way the whole country agrees that we need to get the people that did this and to stop it from happening in the future. :)

We have been prepared for terrorist attacks for many years, we are one of the few western nations with malicious insurgents. However, a lot of their actions pale in comparison to recent events. I personally was stunned at the stupidity of the recent attempted car bombing in Birmingham, considering the more global issues. We have become somewhat learned to living with possible terrorist attacks...

And as for Blair? well IMHO he will always make a better foreign minister than a domestic politician....*wonders how much Blair considers what Thatcher may have done given the same situation* Hmmmm....

We've been the targets of terrorists for years. Getting caught up in the American terror whilst on holiday was just my luck. :D

In for a penny, in for a pound. ;)
