OMG i hope the USA does not condone these acts. i think isreal is going to far.

Israel has surrounded the town of Jenin during the night. Israel claims Sundays suicide bomber was trained in Jenin.

(The Sunday suicide bomber was an Israeli Arab (as opposed to an Palestinian Arab), so I'm not sure why Israel would gain from attacking Palestinian territory.)

The US has however called for restraint, so they are obviously not supporting the recent Israeli intrusion.

Hello DP, thanks a lot for the pictures. It was horrible to see them, especially thinking that your friend actually stood there and witnessed the catastrophy

Hostilities against Swedish muslims have started here

The largest mosque (not that there are many in Sweden) has been threatned. Restaurants and shops owned by moslims have been vandalised. Derrogative words have been written all over shop windows, cars, etc.

Sometimes I doubt humanity ever learn anything

There's been some threats here, but also some nice things. A local restaurant owned by immigrants and serving middle eastern food was closed for 2 days but 50 people signed a note on the door declaring their support for the owners and workers.

So, there's still some hope for humanity

Sweden is generally a country with a very low degree of racism, but when a group is target, it's always Arab/muslim people, whereas Asian, Jews or black people are (AFAIK) never targeted. So, it's really not racism, it's culture-racism. Must be the old christian v muslim tradition, it dies very, very hard.

There's a rather large group of people here who have fled from Iran and Iraque. Most of these people were the "intellectuals" who were viewed as very dangeous people in their repective countries of origin, since they were highly educated, spoke English and could get information from the outside world.
But although 90% of this immigrant group has an education at Master level or "higher", they can't get the jobs they were educated for, in Sweden. So, we probably have the world's best educated taxi-drivers and underground ticket sellers

The only positive thing is that I always have very inetellcually stimulating scientific discussions every time I go somewhere by taxi
