Skechers query

Post by Crassus »

A question for anyone, but in particular younger persons:

Do you like the shoes made by Skechers USA? As compared to Nike or Reebok or Vans? I bought a pair of Skechers yesterday. They seem to be good walking shoes, with a little bit of fashion added to them.

well, sketchers have more variety than reebok or nike. they are not just athletic shoes, they have a wide variety of shoes. but comfort is not one of their strong suits, most of their styles have a thick hard plastic heel...very awkward

I have a pair of Skeckers (Sporttrail)

I tested them against my old pair of Reeboks and....they fail.

I'm rough on shoes...real rough. If a pair last a year with me...they are good. I usually get a year out of Reeboks, these Skeckers last three months and then started to fall apart. If I ran everyday I could see this happening, but I'm lazy. I go out the front door and get in the car to goto the backyard.

Yeah, Nekro. Skechers makes a lot of different shoes but my objection is that they are fake skate shoes - they look like skate shoes but they (as a company) don't sponsor real skateboarders or skateboarding events like the "real" skateboarding shoe companies Vans, Reef, DC Shoes (my favorites), Duffs, Airwalk etc. Skechers just cops the look and style of skateboarding without really doing anything for the sport. I think a lot of companies do this and it pisses me off. I heard one lady bought skechers for her kid and the kid went to school, got teased for having skechers and never wore them again. Should've got some DC's

ROFLMAO!!!!! :D

Hell no I wasn't that kid! I'm 30 years old and I buy the cool shoes for myself thank you!!! (My problem now is my shoes are size 14 american and it's hard to find cool skate shoes sometimes) In my list of cool ones above I forgot es, etnies, and DVS by the way.

I could've told that mom not to buy the skechers - little kids are very brand conscious!

My personal shame goes back further - in junior high in 1985 I had a pair of fake Vans slip-ons that my mom got for me. No one really teased me, but I could tell what they were thinking ;)

Hey Sleep - do you skateboard in Doc Martens?!?!?!

I tried skateboarding for a brief while during high school. I didn't have a regular skateboard, though. I had one of those freestyle boards where you start from a stationary point, jump up, and at the same time kick your board to make it spin around 180 degrees or even 360 degrees, and then you land on the skateboard.

I quit because (1) I could never land on the board, and (2) I could never even do a simple ollie.

[Edited to say: I didn't realize this until after the fact, but this is my 100th post!]

LOL I have tried. :( :o :D

I used to skateboard when i was younger, but with size 13 feet there is a great deal of overhang and it is difficult to balance efficently, i have quite decent balance, just not on a skateboard ;) :D

@Mr Sleep - lol! :D

My Dr Martin shoes lasted me twelve years before they were retired, my boots I have had for six years :D

The only problem I have with DM (boots) is that my legs are so skinny if I turn sideways I look like a golf club :D :D

So are y'all saying DM's are worth the $120 price tag. I keep looking to buy a pair but that is alot of money for a pair of shoes.

BTW Sleep, you're 6' tall with a size 13 foot!!

Well, you know what they say about big sheep...er I mean feet.

@Mr Sleep - size 4 ;)

@McBane - I paid £40 for my DM shoes 13 years ago and can still get them for £40-£45 - not bad inflation :D what helps is that I can buy kids' size shoes ;)

@C E lol! :D
