@quark - i agree. although i support GW Bush (i mean, he was our governor for awhile as well). i think if McCain had won the primaries, it would have been an outright slaughter. at no point did i ever hear any one say anythign bad about McCain.

I'm the same size in Texas as everywhere else...little. Actually, I feel smaller when I'm in Texas because everything else is so big; but at least I'm not likely to get struck by lightning.

hmmm...lightning...an interestign study in texas...if everything is bigger, what gets hit...
well, i dunno about that, but as far as flooding goes, i got mine 3 years ago.
nothign quite like barely escaping your truck as it rolls over, gettign caught in some barbed wire tryign to swim to safety, havign one failed rescue attempt, etc.

good times...good times!

I think that's about the same time that the Colorado River flooded, flooding Lake Buchanon, Inks Lake, etc. I was at Inks Lake at the time. Nearly got trapped on an island that's supposed to be the main camping area of the Inks Lake State Park.

Then there's San Angelo where it floods even if all they get is 1nm of rain. I lost count of how many times I went to Taco Bell, it rained while I was there, then drove home with the water flying up over the front end of my car. The wedge shape of an '84 Firebird is definitely not designed for driving through water that's 2-3 feet deep.(and this is when it had only rained for ½hour at the most.)

If I'd had a nice big pickup, I probably wouldn't have had any problem, though.

I love my Firebird, but I want a truck to go with her. *is now confused as to whether she's talking about her car or her girlfriend*

i was down in shiner texas for bocktoberfest. watching reckless kelly, some other local bands and the king of new texas music...Robert Earl Keen. they through everyoen out about 4 or 5 hours early..sending thousands of drunk people into the flooding streets. when i drove there in the morning, it was sunny as can be.
definitely scary stuff...and this past week or so, the rain hasn't stopped for very long. thankfully, it has stopped just long enough for the groung to soak up some moisture, and it is hotter than it wa sin mid october, so some is evaporated away

Out here in Arizona, it is currently monsoon season(or at least, last I heard, it ws monsoon season). All that means is that we'll be threatened(idle threats usually) by storms. When they do hit, they usually just end up being sandstorms. The few times it actually rains, it is imediately following the preceding sandstorm, thus turning the rainstorm into a mudstorm. These only happen right after you wash you car.

They weren't, but I was. Fall semester last year, I went to Angelo State University. Same day I moved into the dorm, they moved to Arizona. I was only 17 and just didn't feel comfortable that far away from "home," thus I wasn't doing too good acedemically(sp?)(failing in all my classes

). When they drove back to Texas for Thanksgiving, I decided to drop out and move back "home," which was not an easy decision because when I moved I went from a 1½ hour drive from where my girlfriend lives to 2 day drive to where my girlfriend lives.

ahhhh, i was pretty close in my personal guess. i assumed your family had somethign to do with angelo state. it was just you, but i was close.

so, are you in school there in arizona?
one of my all time favorite prof's is out there at arizona state now...Dr. Doyle. been up for nobel prizes...hasn't won though. has his own reaction named for him.

I'm currently attending CAC(Central Arizona College). I'll be transfering to either Arizona State, NAU, or UofA in a couple of years, I think. All I know for sure is that in 4-5 years, I'm gonna transfer to UT for my Masters and Ph.D.

I think Communism is the best form of government, IN THEORY. IMO, the reason that communism did not work is that the person in power gets corrupted with power, desire, greed, wealth, etc. If we were to have a robot ruler who is incapable of any desire or emotion, wouldn't communism work.

I'm not really a fan of sports in general. I just kinda go with whatever my parents like, thus I "support" the Longhorns. My reason for wanting to go to UT is that it is the best place for me to go for my Masters and Ph.D. in Physics that is in Texas.

I don't care much for Austin, but then, I don't like big cities much. About all I like'em for is shopping. Another reason I don't care much for Austin is because that is where my sister and brother-in-law live.

just asking for clarification, i won't stick my nose any further into it.
austin is really nice as far cities go. there is almost no industrial pollution, tons of trees and parks, 6th street (the live music capital of the world), but it has INSANELY bad traffic and it is by far the most liberal city due to UT being there, it kind of loses its texas feel at times.
