Uhhh... NeKr0...
...somehow I didn't find this latest site of yours funny.
I'm Catholic and that's my God there being made fun of...
... I know that you don't mean to be offensive... none taken from you to me as a person...
... I know that I don't have to check it out if I don't like it...
...but golly, somehow this doesn't sound right to me. It gives me a big thud in the heart.
Peace, bro.

@Nekro Making fun of other peoples believes is not funny, it is offensive, insulting and rude.

Without trying to be controversial - I'd say that it is when we are unable to laugh at ourselves and what we belive in we become offensive and intolerantOriginally posted by Gandalfgal The Talking Variant:

There are some things, however, that are very serious and not a laughing matter. I have to agree with Maharlika and the others.Originally posted by Xandax:

While making fun of the believers could be considered as such, making fun of a believe or it's God(s) can never be considered funny, only disrespectful. Perhaps it is because of the fact that it's part of my believes that which is made fun of, I have taken offense too easily, but I would respond similiar if something as such would be done too another ones God(s) and/or believes.Originally posted by Xandax:

@Nekro: That would be useful, although not posting something as offensive as such might be even more so.
@Aegis: Watching a movie is making a choice, one does not go too a movie without knowing what's about. One does click on a link provided by someone on this board without knowing what it's about.

All I have to say is this, and this is by no means an attack on anyone. If God made us in his image, then why is it we cannot laugh at ourselves, or laugh at things that can be humourous. Even God had a sense of humour. Just look at the Platypus...
P.S. I apologize to all of the Playtpi enthusiasts out there. It is indeed a noble animal, and I don't wish to slight these stupid creatures in any way.

Then what can be used as humorous material?Originally posted by Gandalfgal The Talking Variant:

We can't make fun of people anymore (skincolour, birthplace, religious belive, if they fall down the ladder, if they sue mac donald for spilling hot coffe etc.)
becaue everyhting can be considered offensive to some people??
People get fired from work for telling a "racist", "sexists" (and proberly soon, just a) joke (or fowarding it via email).
IMO everybody needs to rewind and look at the "Falwty Towers"-episode where John Cleese gets a (several) bump on the head and is visited by germans (whops - political uncorrect)
IMO the world is getting darker everyday as we continue to try to become political correct.

I would have wanted to just personally get a lid on this and just lurk on this thread, instead I find it alarming that some of you did not get the gist of Gan's argument.
I share Gan's position that we can find humor when it comes to people related to religion.
I myself make fun of some of our priests and nuns because of some of that things that they do which is very human in nature, i.e., self-righteousness; hypocrisy; holier-than-though; (mis)interpretation of the Bible; etc.... among other things.
They're just people. They're not the God whom I worship.
But to make fun on, no, make that MOCK our God Himself is utter insulting if not outright disgusting and demeaning.
Put it this way. We consider our God more than just a belief. He is our Father/Mother.
What would you feel if somebody made fun of your Father's suffering? Perhaps a number of you who don't believe in Christ (or even religion itself for that matter) do not know what the Image of Christ on the Cross is really all about.
FYI, it symbolizes His great suffering and great sacrifice for us His children.
Now to find some parallelism so that non-believers can relate something closer to home...
Think of your own Dad or Mom (whom you dearly love) who went through a lot just to give you the things that meant a whole lot to you.
Here comes people who know nothing and makes fun of your parent at a great expense, intimizing what a joke your father is.
How would you feel?
Maybe take for example a car that your parents bought you for doing good in school (or whatever) as an incentive for a job well done. Your parents are not rich and you know for a fact that they worked MIGHTY hard, and sacrificed a lot just to show you how much you mean to them.
Here comes people who know nothing, makes fun of your car (in this case the Image of Christ on the Cross), how funny and outdated it looks, and worse, vandalizes it.
How would you feel?
I don't want to sound like a preacher (I'm not) nor do I pretend to be a scholar when it comes to my religion. All I have is just Faith...
...and to make fun out of the Image of Christ in such a glaring manner is to tell me right into the face that everything that I hold dear in life is bovine fecal matter.
You don't believe in my God, that's fine with me. I have nothing against you if you think that way.
But to go further by intimating that I'm a big joke for believing in my God, or desecrating the Image which I believe is Holy, then....[ it's up to you to come up with superlatives to describe this negative feeling that I'm having.]
Peace.

@Xan, to a point I agree with what you are saying. I do believe however, that there is enough trouble in this world that is caused by a lack of understanding with regards to differing cultures, and differing beliefs, and that we should learn to exercise respect when discussing sensitive issues in such a multi-cultural environment. For the record, I do not follow a religious faith, but this does not detract from the fact that I believe this post unnecessary.Posted by Xandax -

If one is going to post something of this nature then please put a short explanation to it's content. I realise that it is a joke, but some jokes do come at the expense of people feelings.

I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
Well it has been a long time since I've seen a joke, not using "some person" as the puchline (can't remember any infact) - so all jokes are basically at the expense of other people.Originally posted by Mr Sleep:

Blondes jokes are discriminating and should be removed, and as a "computer programming wannabes" we, at school, often joke about "stupid users" - that is discrimination and should not happen.
BTW what about the joke where the rabbi, the pope and an Iman.... oh no - this is religion and is discriminating and offensive.....
Were will it stop? When we can't say or laugh at anything because it might be offensive.
I know I'm drawing a sharp line, and of course I personally don't run around an "offend" people (using commen sence (if I had some

Yes I know - and IMO much of this could be cured if we could laugh together at eachother and ourselves.Originally posted by Yshania:

And that is simply not possible if we are to affraid to "do anything un-political correct"
We have in the area where I live a large problem with integration - and many of the people that are having problem with being integrated are the ones telling us that we need to lighten up on issues.
And BTW many of the people that are integrated, use humor to descripe themself, others and the relationship between us
