Black Hawk [2 thumbs up or] Down?

Post by EMINEM »

Has anyone seen it, yet? If so, would you recommend it to others? I understand Legolas is among the cast. Well, the actor who played him, Orlando something-or-other. Speaking of which, how does Black Hawk compare to LoTR? Also speaking of which, I've noticed myself getting into the habit of calling the actors in LoTR by their LoTR names. Can you relate? For instance, "Deep Impact" was on last night, and I couldn't stop calling Elijah Wood "Frodo." Ian McKellan was on Craig Kilborn yesterday, and I was jumping up and down like a chicken for about five minutes pointing at the screen and shouting "Gandalf! Gandalf! Gandalf!"

(Yeah, yeah, I'm a pathetic Tolkienite, but may it never be said I lived too much in denial to ever admit it!)

Well, Black Hawk Down just came out today, and I'm going to see LotR with my friends (again ;) ) after school. I have exams next week, so I'll go see it then. From what I've seen/heard, it looks great. :)

I haven't seen it (and probably won't) but cnn.com didn't care for it. I'd just assume read the book.

Haven't seen either, but Ridley Scott directing is a pretty strong reason to see Black Hawk Down - the man is one of the very best in the business. Not every movie he does is as good as Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise, or Gladiator, but even marginal ones (Black Rain with Michael Douglas complete with cheesy 80's hair) are worth watching for the incredible direction and cinematography. If you like that kind of stuff. IMO. ;)
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

I've seen it, an it's a pretty good movie, although I find the time of release a bit strange. The political views expressed in the movie are a bit controversial to say the least.
