Sanskrit is totally impossible to understand for you and me, in its' written form it looks almost like Arabic.
The Rosetta stone is a famous stone that helped Egyptologists to interpret the hieroglyphs. The Rosetta stone contains the same text written in three different languages (greek, hieroglyphs and Demotic) and thus, the mysterious hieroglyphs could be "uncoded". If you live in London, go to British Museum and have a look at it.
