Just found this on Ananova: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_414475.html
That's as bad as (maybe worse than) the Kansas rulings saying Evolution isn't a required part of the curriculum. What a blatant show of ignorance ... I hope you Canadians fight this.

Considering the vast amount of information regarding chemical compounds readily available on the net, public libraries, textbooks, etc, this looks to me like an excercise in futility. Just for fun (and for the privilege of being monitored by Echelon...) I did a search on "Sarin" and found pages that had only recently removed the information on synthesis. Even so, the information currently available would point even a slow learner in the right direction.
Controlling information is pointless, more so today than ever before. If the purpose is to prevent people from *producing* the stuff, it is much more meaningful to track and control the substances needed for synthesis.

The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations David Friedman

I agree with what you are saying here, and maybe it is an exercise in futility.Posted by Silur -

I also agree with C E and Quark, this action is racist.
In order to find a cure for a disease, we first need to understand it's nature and sypmtoms.
Not everyone wanting to study chemistry or physics intend on terrorist activity - who knows? there could be a potential nobel prize winner amongst them. To deny education without evidence that each person has an ulterior motive is a violation of rights, IMHO.
I can only wonder how research into heart surgery would have progressed without the genius of Magdi Yacoub.
We are all individuals and tarring whole nations with the same brush is a dangerous practice.

Its a hoax. Nothing in the best Toronto paper (The Toronto Star), nothing on CBC news and nothing on CityTV news. Its a hoax. Canada has yet to change its immigration policies, let alone something as racist as this. In fact, I followed the link on that site to the Toronto Sun. It was actually a new agency that is partners with the Toronto Sun. Plus, the Sun didn't actually report this.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
