For DA:O my favorite is Shale, he/she has some of the best throwaway lines and is the most diverse character in battle strategy.
For DA:O Awakenings, Sigrun or Oghren - tbh, I found the characters in Awakenings a bit throwaway.
For DA2, Merrill there's just something about a Welsh accent
.
I agree with Trevorish about Loghain, if you get him as a party member - it is difficult to see him as the villain you built him up to be.

Hmm hard choice, but I would have to go with Loghain for Origins, he is one of my favorite video game characters. In Dragon Age 2 it is between Anders and Varric, really love both characters, love the way Anders evolves from Awakening.

I was getting quite frustrated with my entourage choices until about half-way through when I found that Oghren, Leliana and Alister made for quite a fun posse, to which most of my chuckles came from Oghren's filth being parried by leliana's faux virginity. Alister probably played best with Wynne but since you are limited to three only, Alister soon became my rotatable.
I think Oghren had the best story-line on the emotional level as well, ironically, as all his callousness seemed to be born of years of emotional turmoil with his over-adventurous true-love who kept unrequitting him

My favourite origins character would have to be Alistar then Morrigan.
Alistair starts off with a brain and some quite wittty comments, then he kinda starts to become an idiot. And morrigan starts off being a completey evil *swear words*. but eventually starts to actually have a soul.
I like lelliana, but only for the romance, seeing as how its probably the cutest one
And the others are boring other than Sten, who ive never actually managed to talk to properly.

If you are drawn to it...attack it...get obsessed with it and conquer it...it doesn't matter if you think you can do it or not..its all in your head. Nikki Sixx <3

Actually all the character dialog, voice acting, and background created believable companions in DA2. Even the main-character dialog was well done (..though it lacked the ability for an "evil" or "good" character.)trevorish wrote:
In DA2 it is definitely Anders. In my opinion his character development is the best part about DA2.
I personally didn't like Anders.. but he was very well done - the whiny little sh!t.
Plenty of "low points" though..
My personal fav.: Oghren (DA 1), but this depended quite a lot on the other companions in the party at that time.
I also particularly liked Isabella's character (DA 2), especially during the Fade sequence.

So far, I've only played DA:O. My favourite? Well, it's a toss up between Alistair - he's funny - and Sten - because he's not! I like his practical simplicity and honesty and directness of purpose - that and watching him being confused: "A warrior can't be a woman so you can't be a woman". I like his face too. Kind of ugly but stern and nice.
Alistair is nice, and sweet, and humorous, and gentle (except in a fight!) and if you build him properly he's a pretty good tank. Besides - he always falls in love with my girls! What's not to like?
Morrigan - I didn't like at first; until I realised that inside the hard shell she's rather unsure of herself (in some respects!) and softer than she thinks she is.
Leliana is both cute and very useful. Shale makes me laugh, Wynne is nice, and nobody's fool.
Duncan is pretty good, but he doesn't last... same for Cailen.
Oh, and I like Zevran! Makes me laugh.
Never liked Oghren, despise Loghain, the Mabari hound is useful but boring.
In fact, I think pretty well all the characters and personalities in DA:O are well-made. They are not just ciphers but have individuality and react with your character according to their personalities and the way you treat them. I like that.

As I posted Before:
Dog always and Forever!
Alistair (still been playing a Human Noble Female too much)
WHen NOT actually as HNF origin, Zevran typically gets good ratings (from female chars) or Leliana (from Theron, Dalish Elf)
Nathaniel is best from Awakening, with Anders as 2nd (with cat)
For DA2:
Varric's Storyteller ability is great
Anders is likable (since I only liked the female mage start.... guess who came to bed:mischief
