You notice again that when trying the combination 52374, you press in the 3 and the pressed in 5 becomes unpressed.

You click in the two numbers, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to unlock the door.

You do hear some clicking and grinding though, as if the door is doing something.

Nothing unusual happens with the door this time around, however you do hear some moaning behind you.

As you turn, you see a rather pale looking corpse behind you, freshly preserved with an elongated face and rather sickly looking claws.

Provided Shile is not attacked and killed this will be her actions.

Free actions:

Wisdom check: 9+1=10
Intelligence check: 18+1=19

(to check if the corpse is related or similar to the one Shile had previously fought)

Move action:

Draw lightcross bow.

Attack action:

1d20+2= 15+2=17

damage: 1d6= 6

"Keep it busy while I shoot it dead... ehm make it deader!"

Shile says that rather loudly, more than she wanted actually.

Normally, I wouldn't question a player's choice to do something in the game, including posting actions ahead of time, but in this instance, I'm gonna offer some advice.

Posting your actions ahead of time for combat purposes is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in a tactics game, and dungeons and dragons is most certainly a tactics game as much as it is roleplaying.

Here's why, and this directly relates to the combat you are currently in. Suppose for a moment we go with your posted actions for later.

Surprise Round-
Wight moves forward and attacks either you or shile, dealing damage.

Round 1-
As the wight has received a higher initiative than you, unless Jeronis is somehow able to not only go first but deal enough damage to miraculously kill the wight right off the bat, the wight gets to attack either you or shile again.

Then you go and draw your crossbow, which provokes an attack of opportunity from the wight, further damaging you.

Then you try to shoot it in melee which is a -4 penalty to your attack roll.



I'm not suggesting this is what could happen. I'm saying this WILL happen if those are your actions. The wight has only melee attacks, and he is already going before any of you for sneaking up on you.


So yeah, I'm gonna let you edit your actions out if you wish. Normally, I'm okay with posting actions and contingencies ahead of time, but in combat, this is a very bad idea.

Edit: I know its ahead of time but to me its pretty obvious that I'm going to be either attacking melee or fleeing. I can't trip it or bullrush it (or bull**** it!) as a halfling with light weapons so theres not too much to do.


OOC: Can you hide in plane sight shile, not sure how that works exactly? I'm used to CRPG.

IC:

Initiative: d20 + 4 = 5 :(

AC 19, 15 flatfooted

Action: Draw masterwork small light mace and masterwork dagger. Attack the figure and try to impose between Shile and the figure but not to the point of provoking AoO or something odd from the figure.

Attacks the figure.

Attack lightmace d20 + 6; 15 + 6 = 21
dagger d20 +6; 20 + 6 = 26, hell yeah but its undead..

Confirmation of Critical 14 + 6 = 20

Damage lightmace 1d4 + 1 = 5
dagger 1d3 + 1 = 2

The halfling hooks his slender arms to his waist coming up with steel. Lunging into the fiend he grunts, "get behind me".

Please don't link to what you think the monster might be. Viewing the stats of a creature your character doesn't know is metagaming, and is illegal in D&D.
