I apologize if this matter has been addressed in this forum, but I was not able to find a thread about it here.
Note that I started playing "Awakening" right after I finished all the DLC's including the Witch Hunt.
Precaution : SAVE OFTEN!
SPOILERS
Spoiler
When your party is entering the Silverite mine in the forest and after you are being captured by the darkspawn, all four of your characters are supposed to wake up in a prison, dressed only with "simple clothing" while your ENTIRE inventory should be gone. As you progress inside the mine you will gradually encounter 4 "experimental subjects"/ghouls dressed with the items worn previously by your party members. Before the final battle in the mines you should find a chest, by a quanari merchant, which contains the rest of your inventory.
What might happen however, as I understand it, is that if your characters/or only your main character (I'm not sure there) wears certain items , your main will wake up naked in the prison cell, you will still have your entire inventory, and you will still have lost all the items worn by your characters. The thing is, that you will not encounter all of the experimental subjects, and as a result, you will loose all the items worn by your character. Of-course, the chest by the merchant will be empty.
IMPORTANT : if one of your characters wakes up without wearing the "clothing" and is naked, and/or you still have your items in your inventory, you should restart from a previous point.
From what I have read, the experimental subjects cannot wear/interact with certain items mainly from the DLC's with some exceptions ,and that causes the bug, so what you must do is to strip your main character from any DLC or problematic items, and if that doesn't work remove them from you inventory altogether.
I am certain that items that are causing the problem, are : arcane warrior items, and the ring "Key to the City"
SOLUTION:
In my playthrough, my dual-wielding warrior was using the ring "key to the city" an item reported to be causing the bug very often. I had to destroy the item ( I was too bored to go back and sell/store it) I stripped the character, and had him wear a simple chainmail , the helm Corruption and the sword Dumat's Spine. The DLC items in my inventory didn't cause any problems, the "Key to the City" however was causing the bug even when I was not wearing it. I could have had him completely stripped, but I wanted to be able to recognize the "experimental subject" wearing the items.
