Cellar of Duchal Palace *spoiler*

So, i was playing through the game with my F/M/C with tutu, and when i was i duchal the Doppleganger's started running away in fear, and some went downstairs. (The way down is behind the duke's and under the stairs up).
And when i followed them a cutscene i had never seen played - is there any reason to why there is a cutscene to your first arrival down there? I mean, it's not like you ever go into the palace except in this part of the game, right?
Anyway, so what i was wondering is if there is any quest involved in this, if it's just some unfinnished quest or some such?

Also i think this is the area where you do the tutorial in bg2? But this probably doesn't have anything to do it, just thought i'd add it.

Yes, there's a cutscene when you enter basement for the 1st time, there aren't any quests involved as far as I know, not even in the Unfinished business mod.However, you can grab a lot of treasures down there and even more in upper floors of Duchal Palace.But it's guarded, so

Still, i would never bother doing something like that when you're just about to be going after Sarevok for the final battle. Seems kind of... Badly placed?

that would be my guess, perhaps there was something else planned there instead of "teleport" to the thieves guild...

You can do it before fighting Sarevok in the Palace, just sneak your thief/thieves to the basement and to the upper floors.Just be careful not to move other characters that are visible to the main chamber.I think the roof is also accessible.When you rob the Duchal Palace, then you can fight Sarevok.
