Now I managed to achieve a "breakthrough" of sorts, by finding out how to give different weapons to monsters and setting the percentage chance for them to actually have another weapon, it works very well (almost too well, now certain types of enemies can be a PITA because they have a chance to get winter weapons!). Cionaoith, I think you might really like my mod, so if you want I can upload it for you (and everyone else who wants to play, of course) - here are some features:
- How would you like to finally get something from the endless swarms of bees? Now bees can drop Grinnich Weed!
- Did you also despise the fact that the Elven Wizard (last Elder in the Arindale Elf Trial) is the hardest Elder to kill and gives the lowest amount of experience? Now he gives more than a million when killed!
- Would you also like to have much more randomnity in monster spawns instead of fighting the same old spiders and bees all the time? Now there can be gazers, cacodemons, headless brutes and the all-new Flame Spirts, to name a few! Lots and lots of new enemies!
- Would you like to be able to find ALL nether kataals from monsters? Now you can do so! Every kataal now has at least one monster type that drops it, for example Chunnelers will drop Monkey Paws and Vulture Beaks, Gazers will drop Shrunken Heads and so on!
- And the newest feature: Would you like to encounter enemies that use lots of different weapons instead of the same old elven swords and fangtip blades you're probably sick of finding? Now Barrowgrim Mages can wield Frost Sceptres! Ninja Lords can spawn with Crescent Poleblades! Barrowgrim Marauders may wield Burning Battle Bows! And on rare occasions an enemy may even wield a Bladerelic, Demonblade of Baal, Jade Sword, Hammer of Thoronir or other previously unfindable weapons!
- Almost forgot it: Now many more different spells can be found from spellcasting monsters, including Summon Evil, Summon Deathlord, Fire Nova, Divine Intervention, Drain Life and Cataclysm! Of course they are quite rare but now the player will really be rewarded if (s)he can defeat the dreaded Twisted Sylphs.

Lower level spells like Sleep, Gripping Vines, Ice Ball, Blessed Spirit or Lightning can also be found on some monsters. It was just boring to always find the same old fireball, magic missile and shrieking star books and crystals of time, now all the other spells can be found too, and not only from chests. Oh, did I mention chests can also drop a wider variety of items now? With a little luck one might find a Bow of Vines, Divine Bladerelic or Demonblade of Baal in some high-level chests now!
If this sounds like a great mod, just tell me and I'll upload it for you. Actually it's meant to be played (and enjoyed

) from the beginning but old characters should still work, too, so you can continue to do the 210 INT testing (if you haven't reached that threshold yet) but at the same time also encounter lots of new stuff.
Of course you could also do all of this yourself if I tell you how to modify monster equipment and similar stuff, but why go through all that work if you can just use the version that I made already? It should be fairly well balanced (low-value items are dropped by low-level monsters, valuable stuff can only be found from higher-level enemies and chests, high-level monsters give more EXP than low-level ones, etc.), and most important, I think it's
a whole lot of FUN to play. Personally, I wouldn't go back to the unmodded version ever again because I can't do it without all the new stuff anymore.
