I just finished a BG1--->ToB campaign and need to switch gears for a while.
Was thinking of playing this before I do GoW3 or Demon's Souls. I finished ME1 multiple times. There was a lot I liked about it, but it definitely felt like it shipped incomplete...and of course, it was way too easy.
The reviews on ME2 suggest it is much more polished and with greatly improved combat mechanics. Sounds promising, but is it worth adding to the library for 70 bucks in your opinion?
TIA
So, is this worth spending 70 bucks on?

I liked ME2 much more than ME1, but I'd classify it as a shooter/RPG hybrid. If you liked the first one, chances are that you'll like the sequel even more. The engine has been revamped and the number of skills has been cut down, but overall, now the classes actually feel different.
If you find the game too easy, just raise the difficulty. Insanity is a huge jump from Veteran or Hardcore, and will give you the sufficient challenge.

“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
Having finished ME 2 twice and currently playing it again on Insanity, I feel it offers challenge and story enough to make it worth the money. Are there things I have quips with? Yeah, but that pretty much goes for all games.
Most folks who enjoyed the first like the sequel, if that's any indication.

OK, I am substantially into this game and am loving it. I just got to the part where Mordin breaks into his Gilbert and Sullivan routine and literally laughed until I cried.
The Justicar, The Assassin, Jack (omg, Jack is awesome!!!!)...some really great character and plot creation in this title. Very impressed.
Additionally, they cleaned up combat a lot. It has a bit more depth to it... which I really appreciate. The different types of protections (shields, armor, barriers), the ability to affect specific body shots is fun to play with.
There's substantial research and upgrading which I always enjoy.
I also have to appreciate all the tie-ins to ME1, it really pays off nicely IMO.
I am playing on 'veteran' to start and have already died numerous times because certain enemies are so efficient at shredding your shields and taking you down. And man, does the AI really come after you in this game! Love it.
The only thing I dislike about it is the planet surveying (zzzzz....) which I actually find more inane and tedious than Mako expeditions if you can believe that.
But bottom line is....
Good job Bioware!!!
