Watchers Keep Sex Change Problem

Post by Maugan »

Heya everyone,

Like many i'm playing through BG2 (with the Darkest Day) for the 20th odd time, but it seems i've run into a problem as of last night. In one of the Wild Surge rooms in Watchers Keep my M/F/T has been turned into a female, however it seems to be permanent.

I cant remove it using any sort of remove curse and if I go back to the room and cast spells till I get another Wild Surge that turns him back to male, it reverts back to female as soon as I rest or travel. 'His" actual avatar on the inventory screen has changed to female, and stays female even when I get a surge to turn him back into male. Its really frustrating.

I know it doesnt have any real bearing on the game but its really annoying me, does anyone have any ideas?

Also while i'm here I had a question about a mutliclass F/M/T, the only level 10 spell I get to choose from my abilities is Energy Blades beacuse the rest of the slots seem to be full of Rogue/Figther abilities, is there a way to get the other level 10 ones? There doesnt seem to be a 'page 2' of abilities or anything.

I enjoy dropping the odd Dragons Breath but its not on the list to choose. Apologies if thats been asked before, I had a search but couldnt find anything.

Anyway thats about it really, thanks in advance for any help folks.

Cheers, Maugan

Um, go on the pill?

More seriously, have you checked out Shadowkeeper? It's the standard BG2 editor, and I think it allows you to alter sex as well as just about everything else, character-wise.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Shadowkeeper is the answer, aye. Or casting ~100 spells in the wild zone till you get sex change again.

Tip : Sex change sometimes kills romances

It's really a shame they didn't incorporate the Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity from BG1. It really should have imported over with the pantaloons to help resolve the Nether Scroll issue with a nice XP reward for carry around the thing for hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Bioware really dropped the ball on that one IMHO.

PS. It could have also helped resolve issues like this for added fun.

At least they did not drop the soap :)

And keep in mind, that you already have to carry Cloak of Balduran, Bronze Pantalons and few other items from BG1. It would be much better if they added the belt to BG2

Well... I just tried brute-leveling a FMT to max. level with IESE, and I didn't get to choose Energy Blades as one of the high-level abilities, only got the extra spells up to level 8. But nevermind that. If you look in the Throne of Bhaal manual, you'll see that a FMT can get to 8.000.000 XP, exactly like all other classes (no real surprise there). But divided by 3 classes, that get's you 2.666.666 XP for your Mage class. That's level 17 as a Mage, exactly 1 level away from being able to access level 9 spells. And since HLA spells are counted as a level 9 spell, you won't have access to them. Even the level 9 spells you get from scrolls won't do you any good, seeing that you'll actually never reach the level where you get slots in your spellbook for them.

Having said that, I don't know if a level cap remover or changed HLA-pools are parts of The Darkest Day, but if it isn't, a level cap remover is probably the way to get at least some of what you want.

the way around this is to simply use LVL 9 spells just as scrolls in your quickslots and *only through simulacrums and projected images* so they never get spent.

but frankly, I am glad it's a pain. Come on, a fighter/mage/thief??? Why not a fighter/cleric/barbarian/mage/thief/Sham-wow! spokesman/ranger/druid/sorcerer instead???

The fighter/mage/thief multiclass can NEVER have mage HLAs (legally) as they're not part of his list. Only those of the fighter and thief, which is just fine since the only abilities that are worth it (in my opinion) are the extra spell slots as well as the Planetar.

Also, don't stress about the level nine slots. You're not missing that much. After all, you have to play on the strengths of your three classes and the only spell that would help with that (from the level nine list) is probably Shapechange.
