Stealing Cooldown

Post by Solusek »

I really don't see a purpose for the stealing cooldown. Can anyone tell me how to remove it via config files for example?

As far as I can see, there are no repercussions for a failed pickpocket. Thus the cooldown is a balancing measure to prevent pickpocket spamming. I am sure there will come along a trainer, or maybe there exists a cheat code, to remove cooldowns.

To what ends? So that the player has to spend more time playing the game? I really don't get it. It's not that you can gain an advantage over another player like in an MMO. The only thing the stealing cooldown accomplishes is that it takes you ages to rob an area blind :>

Nah, I more think that bioware wants you to give up/spend more points in stealing, so you don't rob every area blind with a novice in stealing ;)

Failure is not an option. So I'm going to max out stealing, cooldown or no.
Anyways.. someone please help me remove that damn cooldown. It's wasting hours of my life!

Ok this may sound stupid, but have you considered Quicksaving before a pickpocket attempt and Quickloading in case of failure? On some PCs this might actually be faster than 10 seconds...
I may be drunk, krogan, but you're ugly. And tomorrow I'll be sober.

Indeed, that does sound stupid ;) My problem isn't that I fail to pickpocket someone. It's that it takes ages to rob say 20 people in a row.

I'd like to add that while it's uncommon, there are consequences to pickpocketing people, at least in Denerim.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”

SPOILER:
Spoiler
There are a few instances where you will get cornered by guards for stealing. This usually occurs in the form of a random encounter while traveling.

Also, if your main character is a rogue, there is an NPC in Denerim that sets you up with a number of "profitable encounters".
