Getting out of Lothering

Post by StormRaider »

How do you get out?

Do you have to quest off the Chanter's board?
Can you fight your way off from the back end of the town past Sten?
Do you have to help Sten, the Elder, and the woman who wants traps in order to get out? And those blasted spiders!?!

If you tell the merchant to leave is their anyone else you can get goods from?
Is their a morally good way to deal with the merchant and still get goods from him? I'd like to threaten him but I don't think Alistar would like that, and I don't like the idea of chasing the towns folk off either.

Please help, I really just want to get some healing potions or items (my avatar can make healing potions and injury kits and doggy healing treats) to make them and be on my way to the king's road and the city.
When all else fails, RUN!!!!

Go out of the village, past Sten, and keep going - the exit is in the far left hand corner as you head past Sten and go through the farmlands.

All of these are side quests etc. and thus are entirely optional

There is a merchant in the tavern. Also, if you have a high enough coercion skill then you can convince him to lower his prices to reasonable rates for the villagers.

It only takes the first skill level. (..and for clarification, that is with regard to the villager vs. merchant.)

Note that the villager vs. merchant isn't really a side-quest, rather it's a party-member Influence(r).

If you want to make money - good for the witch, bad for everyone except the dog (..and perhaps Sten, don't know).

If you want to play it balanced (and have the persuasion), OR goody two-shoes: ditch the witch.

I *think* it doesn't effect those members not in your party when the action occurs. IF so, it's a good technique in general for these types of occasions.

***Note that this thread should have SPOILER in the subject line.***

..and speaking of Spoilers:

There is a Tree-marker out-side of town (near the farms) that says this is important for something else.. Does it have anything to do with these early town quests? I have that nagging feeling that I might have missed-out on something with respect to one of these side-quests (..and just got out of town myself).

If you take control of the dog companion and click on the tree, it gives you increased effectiveness in combat for the dog while in that area. Each area has similar points of interest that do the same thing - you have to click on them in each area to get dominance in that area, which gives the bonus to the dog. Also, if you speak to the dog every so often in various areas, you can get him to look for things - he sometimes returns empty handed but every now and then he brings back an item such as a gift or a weapon :)
