Attribute Point Bug?

Post by Scottg »

I'm supposed to get 3 points for every level correct?

Just before obtaining "Grey Warden" status, my character has almost enough points to reach the next level.. (4th)

After obtaining that status Iapparently accrue enough experience points to obtain 4th level AND 5th level.

4th level, no prob.s..

5ht level however and I get no attribute points to spend.

At the time I assumed it was part of the leveling, that I wasn't supposed to get those 3 attribute points, but after reading around it doesn't seem that is correct.

Is it a bug or not?

Looked at it again,

The second "level" doesn't register as a level (in the character sheet) - it just gives my mage access to an additional spell. :o

Weird.

It's just an extra skill point. However, extra skill & talent points register as a "level up" icon.

Another bug is that you can redistribute your attribute points.

If you for example have a dex of 10, and you level up.
Place your 3 points on dex and then click the reset button.
You get your 3 points back, but you can now lower your dex to 7.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Is the extra skill (or in my case spell), normal? (..is it every 5 levels you get an additional skill/spell?)

Or is their something specific in the way I've constructed my build that adds it on?

It's normal. Every 5 levels you should get one extra skillpoint.
I think it's even said in manual, though I can't remember for sure. But at least it's mentioned in one of those loading screen texts.

I didn't notice an extra skillpoint every 5th lvl, just that extra one when you become a Warden.

Perhaps it just got past your notice, though that sounds strange? I remember having it with two different characters, Dwarf Warrior I played to around level 6 and my current character, level 9 human rogue. And I also remember seeing it mentioned on the loading screens.

One character finished the game at lvl 22, the other is 12, yet I only got 2 points at lvl 5, the level I reached after becoming a Warden. Pay attention when your Rogue hits lvl 10, and tell us. :)

For some reason, I couldn't edit my previous post.

My Mage reached lvl 15 today, and she did only get one skillpoint. However, after completing Redcliff, she gained another one.
This confirms that you only get one skill point per level. Certain quests however reward you with an extra one. Maybe because they tend to happen around every fifth lvl, it seemed that you got two skillpoints every level?
BTW, the advancement table here at GB also shows only one skill point each level.

My rogue is level 10 and only got one skill point so it is definately only after becoming a Grey Warden that you get two
