Semantics aside I am of course talking about the episodes of TNG/DS9/Voyager that take place inside the holodeck and involve the whole cast dressing up in costumes and pretending they're in Paris or in a private eye novel etc. I always though those episodes were a waste of time.
The Moriarty(sp?) thing was having to do with the possibility of artificial intelligence unintentionally becoming sentient. I thought it was a great episode. The one with Reginald's obsession with holodecks was having to do with addictions and was a high-tech version of a drug addiction. I thought that too was a good episode, though not the best. The others were generally using the holodeck as entertainment during times when nothing was going on. The one with the Jazz club was a 'use of illusion to trick the "enemy,"' not all that different from an illusionist mage in Faerun.

The one with the Doctor's book was having to do with oppression, rights of holograms, and how a writer needs to take things in to consideration sometimes. All good eps.
Is so
Not to say that it isn't uplifting or inspirational but I don't think it would be out of place next to "Wind Beneath My Wings" and the song from Titanic. And it's very disappointing to see them jetison the "space..the final frontier" opening after all these years.
That song is
not cheesy! I don't recall Wind Beneath My Wings, but I do like the song from Titanic. Also, the "space...the final frontier" thing didn't occur in DS9's and Voyager's intros, IIRC. The only real change they made was to give it an intro song that has words. I think it fits the 'storyline' perfectly, so

same here, maybe that song is a "chick thing"

*ahem* My dad likes the song, and
he happens to be a musician. I also know other guys who really like that song, so
