You lucky )&)(&)(&)(^)(*^)(*(*^$&!
I love star trek.
A trekkie ever since i saw the first TNG episode.
Here in Swiss no star trek.
Not a single season.
I am a Picard fan, love that series.
DS9 was boring in the beginning but picked up later.
Saw Voyager this summer and it was ok, but some episodes got boring.
And who thinks that Seven of Nine is just a rip off of Data??
Plus you guys are mean you know that! :D
Now i am going have to go through 12 cassettes of Star Trek espisodes which i have recorded to feel better! :(

I enjoy both as well and, of course, believe that Star Trek is better. They're really too different to do a true comparison. The problem between Trekkies and star wars fans is that the Star Wars fans mistakenly think star wars is better but are too stubborn to see the error of their ways. ;)

Star Trek better than Star Wars? Die, fiend, die!!!! :p :D ;)

Nah, Star Wars is alot better, IMHO. The Phantom Menace wasn't a good movie, though. The SW novels rock though.

Sorry Gaxx, i have to disagree.

Star trek covers all fields, diplomacy, science, warfare, politics and ethics.

Star Wars is good, but mainly it is a prophecy come true type of thing.

Star trek has more depth and the new games are facting brilliant.
Own 7 of them.

Star Trek is better than the Star Wars MOVIES, not the SW universe (novels). The novels cover most of the stuff you mentioned.

Plus, SW had 4 movies. Star Trek had one 3 year show, three 7 year shows, and another is starting. Plus all the other movies.

The first Star Wars was good, the sequels became progressively pointless. Even the first (fourth  ) was a relatively simple fairy-tale type of story, but ground breaking for its time. I should know, I went to see the first about 20 times when it came out! Still, I think George Lucas was a one-trick pony when it comes to such films.

Star Trek is different - first of all it is mainly a television show. Star Trek touches on many different themes - sort of like the Twilight Zone with a permanent cast of characters. I know Star Trek can be cheesy in so many different ways and on so many different levels, but the overriding vision of a semi-utopic future has a lot of appeal to me.

Space 1999? Heh, heh. I remember watching it thinking that it was so plausible... Back then, the US Space program was going great guns. What happened to it? I was 8 years old when we first landed on the moon. I had NASA stickers all over my lunch box and built Estes rockets for fun. *sigh*

Battlestar Ponderosa? Quark? Lost in Space? Gotta love 'em all! :D
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Don't know about the books or universe.
As i have not been able to read any of them.
I personally think taking a movie and making a book out of it is a very bad idea.
And doing the opposite just a waste of time.
I hope LoTR's changes my opinion, but i not holding my breath.

I've not read any Star Wars books, but have you read any of the Star Trek novels? I have an entire shelf full and a box or two full of star trek books. I've read all of them. Peter David is a particularly good Star Trek novel writer. :)

Has anyone read the fantasy books by Lawrence(sp?) Yep? They're really good books. She also wrote a Star Trek book that is good. :)

Actually, the novels are based 2-15 years after the movies.

Star Wars games are better too. :p

The 2nd episode of Enterprise is tonight! :)

I also enjoy both Star Wars and Star Trek but I'm not a fanatic of both. Star Trek is one of the best Sci Fi series going around.

did you guys know R.A. Salvatore writes SW books? :D

Anyway, the way I look at it. SW is an epic, thus it has been veiwed as an epic, and followed as an epic. ST on the other hand is a progressive story that is constanly emerging with different stories. SW is linear in most of it's stuff (Books and Movies, and even the horrible shows), whereas ST has the option to branch off main plots to pursue character development, race development and other such things.
