Alessia's ring quest

ok the quest where you need to find Alessia's ring for thieves guild i believe i screwed up i cant find the ring inside the jewlery box i think i took it a wile back when not on quest and lost it am i screwed if not what do i do

Are you sure you stole it before? Before doing anything else, try to steal the ring from the jewelery box while she is sleeping beside it.

If that doesn't work the use the console and type in this command;

player.additem 35E95 1

That should place the ring in your inventory and get you the subsequent questline update.
