FCOM Convergence

Post by speckledjim »

Ok, so I decided to start playing Oblivion again. Last time I played virtually with no mods at all, but I felt like something was missing. So I decided to try them all out!:speech: Found some guides and came to the conclution that the FCOM Convergence was the best choice to max my Oblivion experience.

This is what i've based myself on:
FCOM: Convergence

And have just now completed all the steps:

# Get Wrye Bash 214 or later.
# Get OOO 1.33 Complete and the OOO 1.34 Beta 5 Patch.
# Get MMM 3.5.5 Full Release and get MMM 3.7 Beta patch.
# Get Oblivion WarCry and the WarCry 1.085b Patch.
# Get Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items.
# Get Bob's Armory.

Now to make them all work togheter..
Haven't started Oblivion after all the upgrades. (don't have shivering isles and knights of the nine yet).

So basicly I need help making it all work together. Stuff like the load order and using wrye bash is all new to me. Hope someone can give me some help with this :D

I've no problem in giving basic-to-moderately advanced advice on how to use Wrye, as I've used it myself for some time with great success. I've also got Francesco's in place, but not the rest of FCOM.

To be honest, you may want to check out this thread. We can supply a lot here, but there's a core of determined FCOM users on the Bethsoft boards that really know it backwards and forwards. I suggest starting there.

As for Wrye, you know it's completely independent of FCOM, correct? You can install and use it with any mods. And these days, it's easy to install, too.

So, I have installed the mods. And I believe they all have been installed properly. The game runs perfectly exept all the WTF!? I'm a missing Mesh!" marks. I don't know what I'm missing here, and I followed the manual: FCOM: Convergence
To the point. The game is playable, and nothing seems to be missing. It's only that the markers are annoying as hell

Anyone know how I can go about fixing this?

Did you read the documentation that came with each mod? Did any of them use BSA files that required registration in your oblivion.ini file? To quote from the Oblivion Construction Set Wiki:
If you're seeing large yellow exclamation marks, this is NOT an invalidation problem. It indicates missing meshes, which almost always means you either did not install all of the files needed for a mod or you installed them in the wrong place. It may also mean that one of your mods uses a BSA file that is not not registered in your Oblivion.ini (or forced to load some other way).
Read the docs. If this is the case, look for a bsa.exe or bsareg.exe file in your /data directory. If you find one, click to launch it. It should immediately spot any files requiring registration. Click to register them, close it, and see if the game runs without your missing meshes.

If they still show up, then you haven't installed everything correctly.

Think I found the problem. I believe I didn't install the right base OOO 1.33 Complete (400mb) file. Could this be the cause?

Right now i'm downloading these:

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (1.3)

Subscribe to FilePlanet

These are the same right?

Struggled to find the right one earlier, since the links on the guide was broken. So after I install one of these I only need the OOO 1.34 Beta5 patch to have the right OOO files installed right?

I have no idea, having not downloaded them. I suggest you do, and compare their readmes. Note: if something says "1.3" and something else says "1.33," the former probably means "1.30." But again, that's for you to determine. ;)

You've been checking the OOO and FCOM forums, right? You've been reading the documentation, right? Because if so, I think you already have your answers.

I guess, think I have an idea of how the whole thing is tied together now :) I better start from scratch again then, if I can't somehow uninstall OOO and install it without screwing up the other mods. Third time's the charm right ;)

And thanks for the help and the reference to the bethesta forum, that helped a lot ;)

So I installed all the mods and now the game works, or so I thought.. After 2 hours I started to get CTD's. Why is this happening? Cause I have no idea.

Did you install Wrye? Because it's the best tool for figuring out crashes.

Wasn't such a big problem after all. The crashes stopped, it was just that it happened 5 times in a row.

So if it happens again, and you ask again, I'll just refer you to the answer I've already given. Save time. ;)
