Well, I got that zip program, and I went back to Arwen's site and got the alternative version (I had the OMOD version first time). Anyway, the program unzipped it, but I couldn't figure how to get it to unzip to Oblivion, so it unzipped on my desktop, and now I don't know how to get it into Oblivion Data files.
Look, I KNOW I'm more than a bit thick, but surely it can't be so damned difficult? What do I do? (Waiiiilllllllllll!)

*chuckles* Don't worry, this stuff can be tricky to figure out when you are new to it ;)

OK, I find it is actually easier to unzip files to my desktop anyway, because I always manually install mods. What you need to do is (below is basically copied from a similar post I made once in the MW forum, the process is essentially identical):

1. Now that you have the mod unpacked, what you need to do is copy the plug-in itself (looks like a little swiss army knife or a scrap of note paper), along with any folders marked "Icons," "sounds" "textures," "meshes," music," etc.
Important Note: keep this folder (i.e the one into which you've unpacked the mod) open, otherwise the process below won't work.

2. Once you have hit copy ( I find it easiest to copy any folders etc. all at once by selecting with my curser, right clicking and hitting "copy"), Go to you main Oblivion directory (path should be: C > Program Files > Bethesda > Oblivion) and then to a folder named "Data Files." Open it.

3. Hit paste. You will be told that x,y, and z names already exist, agree to replacing all.

4. Fire up your game, go to "data files" from your game menu, and put a checkmark next to your mod or mods.

Oh, well... I did all that, and it's there in the right place, so far as I can see, but when I fire up the game and go into Data Files there, it ain't present, so I can't check it. And it's not made any difference to the game, so it clearly isn't working. I must have done something wrong, but I'm damned if I know what...
I'm going to try it again...

I think I know why... I just checked my Natural Faces folder.
It doesn't contain an esp or esm (the thing that looks like a swiss army knife or note scrap), it is just a textures folder I believe.
Textures will not usually show up in your Data Files plug-in list.
That's the good news...

The bad news is that often with Oblivion in order for textures to show up you need to go through a process called Archive Invalidation.

The best method I've found for dealing with this issue, unfortunately, is through the Oblivion mod manager.

All of which is a bit techie.... but check the links and we'll try to help you as best as we can should you want to play around with this stuff.

People like Fable and Galraen are better with tech stuff than I am, so maybe they'll have more insights than I do :D

Well, ak-sher-ly... I think the second time I tried it, it worked... I THINK. Hm... I've trotted my char around looking at faces I am familiar with, and some look a lot better, and some look a lot worse! My own char's face is quite a lot less blotchy, and her eyebrows and mouth look better. By which I figure you are right, cos it isn't in the Data Files.
And I'm jolly glad it worked, too, because I don't want to faff around with yet another couple of new things I won't understand! Well... I daresay I MIGHT understand if I REALLY put my mind to it and studied hard for a few months... ;) but I ask myself "Do I want to?" and get a resounding "NO!"

Thanks so much for your help! You are such a kind person. :)

I may try Arwen's Eye one as well, but I have to recover from this first!

Well, feeling flushed with success, today I decided to get Ethereal Eyes. Well, I successfully got 'em installed... BUT very few of the eye colours showed up. The ones that didn't show gave the characters shiny black almond shapes like holes in their faces. Not good. The normal eye colours were ok, plus Dremora, Vampire (but not vampyre), and Reanimate Eyes (but not Reanimate). Khajiit and Argonian only allowed their natural eye colour, and Orcs got Orc and Reanimate Eyes, only.
Could this be a problem with my video card, do you think? Or something else? I've not had a problem with the video card before. Anyway, I deleted Ethereal Eyes from the Oblivion Data files and all seems to be ok, apart from the game suddenly deciding to crash on Exit, which it hasn't done since I had extra video memory added.

Very strange.. From what I understand, the dark almond eyes can occur due to mod conflicts. But, if you only have Natural Faces I'm not sure why you'd be seeing this problem..
It's actually been a while since I used Ethereal Eyes, now that I think about it, the last time I used an eye replacer I tried Capucine's Character Expansion, and I was very happy with it. Reading the comments though, it sounds as though that too can be problematic..

I'd be surprised if it was a video card issue, but I'm also not techie enough to say for sure... :D

That crash on exit problem is pretty common, even with lots of RAM. It happens to me all the time (I run XP and I have my RAM totally maxed) once I add a certain number of mods. A way around this is to use Fast Exit which works very well. It does need Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) though... so be aware. On the positive side, however, OBSE is actually quite easy to install ;)

Thanks, but I think I'll give it a miss! And if you are not techie, I dread to think how anyone would class ME!:laugh::laugh:

I think I might like a hair mod, 'cos I'm bored with given styles; however, the new face textures do seem to be good with more of the hairstyles than the original faces - I only ever used Loose and Natural of the original styles but now I think I may venture on the others a bit. I used to have a little mod that gave a few more styles, but that got lost with the other one.
