Editing container labels

Post by fable »

I'm doing some very small editing in Tchos Alchemy Tower. He's got about 8 covered pots and a pair of lecterns on his alchemy desk that are unlabeled. I like to find things right away, so...

Anyway, what I did was make that my active data file, and check its two parent files. I brought up the object in the cell view, right-click to edit, choose Edit Base, then provide a new ID and Name before hitting OK. That gives me the following question:

"Old ID: LecternAcademy New ID: LecternAcademy1
You have changed the Form's Editor ID.
Create a new Form?"

If I choose yes, then save the data, I get the following message:

"ModelLoader still has 6 NIF files.
Continue Playing?"

I've chosen to Yes to All, but I backed up the ESP before making adjustments, just in case. ;) Should I be doing anything different?

If all you want to do is change the label you see in game then don't change the ID, just the name.

Creating a new form creates a completely separate item, which won't appear in the game unless you place it yourself. The original should still be in place, but un-edited.

I have it right: I'm changing a generic container in the game into a unique one, because I want the label only on that specific container. So, no problems, there. I probably didn't make that very clear, before.

That ModelLoader message is still odd, though. I gather from some comments I've found elsewhere that it really doesn't hurt anything, however.

Irony strikes! I can't recall seeing that error message prior to you original post Fable, but since then.....

It even just popped up when I closed the CS having changed nothing, I'm starting to strongly suspect it's a reference to what's held in memory (buffer), and has no actual relevance to any editing that has been carried out. Whatever, I have not noticed any efects when I have edited a file and the error message popped up, any problems with your mod?

None whatever. Like you, I've decided to forget it.
