Help Transferring Loot from NWN to New NWN2 Char?

Post by DreadmasterBane »

First off, I did a search and didn't find anything about this.

I just finished the NWN/SoU/HotU campaigns, and am installing NWN2. I'm not bothered about having to start over with character creation, but I'm very fond of some of my stuff that I acquired during the NWN campaigns. Some of those things I could always spawn from an item list, but there are 2 unique weapons I really want if possible.

I don't consider this a NWN2 spoiler since this isn't the NWN forum. I had Rizolvir upgrade some weapons for me both at Lith My'athar and Carnia...and they are sort of sentimental to me...so I want them for my NWN2 character.

For those that are interested: I have been playing these kind of games for a long time, and have sort of developed an adventuring technique that makes the most of maximizing my gold from everything I find...rather than cheating to get gold. In NWN, by the time I got to Lith My'athar, I not only had an enormous horde of equipment, but I also had well over a million in gold. Until I got to LM, I had thought it was just excessive. But, I spent it all and then some on upgrading two weapons...the Sword Saint Legacy +4 (I believe I had the smith, Barun Silverblade, inside the trading post at Beorunna's Well make it for me) and Aramil's Blade. Unlike at Carnia, the only restrictions on upgrades that Rizolvir offers at LM is doubling up on elemental damage. However, the Sword Saint Legacy katanas already have sonic damage to evil, and those don't count for Rizolvir's restrictions...so I not only made the Sword Saint Legacy +4 keen, but I also added 2D6 acid damage, haste, +2 regeneration, and +20 magic resistance. Aramil's blade doesn't matter to me (I gave it to Aribeth, when I found her in Carnia), but because I was upgrading both weapons at LM, I ran out of enough gold to upgrade them to +10...so the Sword Saint Legacy +4, was actually a +9. Unfortunately, I couldn't get back into Lith My'athar to get Rizolvir to finish upgrading it to +10 because I completed the Beholder and undead quests already.

At Carnia, I upgraded a Sword Saint Legacy +8 to +10, and added 2D6 fire damage and made it keen for my offhand weapon. Since the SSL +8 has 2D6 Sonic agaist evil (SSL +4 only has 1D6 Sonic against evil), they make a good matching set...I'd really like to get them back, if possible.

As far as justification goes, my character was a Half-Elven Rogue(2)/Paladin(3)Sorcerer(epic). Romance blossomed with Aribeth when he altered her dark path away from being a Blackguard...and they conceived a child while she was held prisoner awaiting sentencing in Neverwinter. The pregnancy was discovered by one of Lord Nasher's Clerics before Aribeth was put to death, and Nasher arranged for his clergy to divinely intervene a transfer of the unborn into a serrogate mother, all done in secret...without even Aribeth's knowledge. In time, the Seer of Lith My'athar (out of gratitude for the heroic deeds of the father), enabled the son to seek out his father...and that's how he got his gear and Legacies, damn it!!! :p

I strongly suspect that what you wish to do here is not possible. While importing characters and equipment from 'modules' within the same game engine is common enough, I have never encountered a game that would allow this between different game engines.

Likely what you will need to do is to use the 'toolset' to create a tiny module with nothing but a spawn point for your imported character and the items you want just laying on the floor. You'll have to create them from scratch and avoid the temptation to add to them or tweak them, simply clone them verbatim from the originals. Then having done that and given them to your new character, delete the module from your system, delete the toolset even and forget that such a functionality ever existed. (I sometime have a nearly overwhelming temptation to cheat, breaking my game and loosing interest very shortly thereafter. So it is fortunate for me that my game will promptly crash if I type DebugMode 1 in the console window. ;-)

Thanks Panpiper...I'll give that a try.

I don't really suffer too greatly from the temptation to use cheat codes. I enjoy actually playing the game through as it is intended, but I really enjoyed NWN, and I grew very fond of just a few of my items that I acquired the hard way. I forgot to mention that SSL +4(+9) also had the strength level drain from using the black pearl on it at the alter inside the cult temple, in the Underdark. The modified SSL +8 is nothing all that special, but the other one is truly an epic weapon. The other two must haves of mine are the Gloves of Balanced Hand and my Dragon Armor chain without the Battletide...since it only has 20% arcane failure. Those 3 items are surely a reasonable inheritance. I may be able to give that sword a more proper name with the toolset, also. :mischief:
