PST No-Reload Challenge

Post by angiras »

Well, it is time for my bi-annual PST game, and taking a que from the BG1 and BG2 boards, I am going to make an attempt to complete a no-reload game for PST.

In essence, this means that you are not allowed to reload the game from a previous save--for any reason. If you make some stupid dialogue choice and thereby destroy some otherwise juicy option, thats it...too bad. If the Nameless One dies...thats it, end of game. Of course, since the Nameless One cant really 'die', there are some unusual twists to this theme. Lets just say that if you can continue the game without reloading, then you are good to go. But all reloads are forbidden.

I will post the Nameless One's progress in this thread. If others wish to join in this diabolic and masochistic fun, then please feel free to do so, and post your progress here. In your initial post list any mods that you might be using, so everyone knows what the parameters are.

I have to install PST on my computer again before I start my adventure, so I will be back later. Good luck and have fun!

No offense meant, but I always thought that PS:T was a particularly easy game to go through. Don't get me wrong, it's among the best, but I just don't think that a no reloads game would pose a challenge.

I wouldn't do it, personally.

Cause even with my fixpack, it's still entirely possible that -something- could happen that could wipe out your game. Especially if you are using an NVidia graphics card, you could encounter a couple of CTD's during a full game. Or just a 3 second power outage. Or maybe you could even find a bug I'm unaware of yet (or a known one for which there's a workaround that requires going back to a save game).

So if you're going to do it, I'd strongly recommend keeping a save to guard against instances like that. If you don't want to use any reload -unless- it's required due to a bug/crash, then go for it, but if you don't keep any saves at all, I can almost promise you'll regret it. I'd prefer submitted bug reports to not be accompanied by a primal scream of despair :)
