Is this the sequel to Divine Divinity or Beyond Divinity?
Also, hoping this game is slightly more balanced (i.e. poison and scorpions can't beat the last boss if you are 20+ lvls too low)

The games were similar in many design and technical respects, so how are you differentiating between them?
As for information about the title, we know as much as you can by checking for the latest information from their website. I'm certainly interested, given their past record (despite admittedly unbalanced skills), but suspect it will be the end of 2009 before the title appears. If then.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
It's the sequel to the first game, Divine Divinity, in that it continues the main storyline in the same world (Rivellon). However, Beyond Divinity takes place in between the two games, and is important story-wise (especially regarding the main villain), so all three games (plus the novella) should be taken together to get a complete picture.
It's got a new 3D game engine and the control system is no longer point and click, unlike the previous games. But it still has the same core team though, so even though it's now 3D, the style is familiar, and I'm sure the signature humor will be there as well.
There weren't as many exploits in Beyond Divinity, and the Larians are very good at taking in fan feedback on that kind of stuff, so I wouldn't imagine many balancing issues raising their heads.
Alas, the wait is long before we'll even get a demo, I'm sure. By all means check out the official website and the forum.
