Mage Familiar Hp Exploit

Post by Iradith »

I have played baldur's gates 2 a long time ago. lately after readying a some forgotten coast books, it brought back the feeling to play it again.

There is a small exploit that one can do with a mage at the start of the game also in the xp pack. i looked all over and havent found anyone in any sight knowing this so far.

Basically you take a mage, give him the familiar spell. after the start of the game when the john stops torturing you and you get free. cast the familiar spell. as you know you will get half the familiars hp. but heres the twist. export your character with the familiar spell still working. Then start a new game and import that character. you will see that he still has the bounse hp from the familiar, but only difference is that you can cast the familiar again, and gain the hp bounse again. you can do this over and over again you can get your little hp less mage to crazy ammounts of hp, i didnt check how far i can go. But i got him above 500 hp just at the start at level 7/8.

Enjoy

It's easier to just open up SK and give yourself as many HP as you like.

Either way is cheating.

Although you can also kill your familiar until you are reduced to a single point of constitution (you could go lower, but that would require you to have items that give to the stat equipped). This way, your normal health will be low, but when you cast Tensor's Transformation, you can have a massive ammount of life. Experimenting with that, I went to as much as nine hundred and ninety.

I know this is off-topic (kinda), but if you wear that belt that grants 18 CON, can you wrap your CON around to 25 (like the CHA/Ugly Stick trick)?

I don't think so. As soon as the girdle's effect wears off, the character drops dead. It might work on NPCs though.

Except for the fact that NPCs cannot summon familiars.

I meant that if while below zero constitution (after performing the exploit) and still under the effects of the girdle, you could export the character and put him or her in a "secondary" character slot within the multiplayer mode.

This way you would get to see the new score and raise the character, if possible.

If you raise a character with a 0 CON, what happens?

They probably just plop down and die. I never tried. The "death" effect for this exploit may be exclusive to the party leader.
