Is the stories linked or separated? My point is that should I hunt down the first book of the series, or can I just read the first one I find?Loki[D.d.G] wrote:I believe there are 4-5 books in the entire series.

I like the The Fire Within trilogy, mainly cause it involves dragons. but it also has ties to reality. it doesnt take place in a fictional world. I also like the Inheritance Trilogy, by Christopher Paolini. Ive just read the first book, but i am planning to get Eldest (the second of the trilogy) sometime soon. Also, has anyone read The Revenge of the Shadow King by Derek Benz and J.S. Lewis? That's another one i like.

Phillip Pullman's books are called the Dark Materials Trilogy. The Movie release is, as you say, The Golden Compass.fable-kaima wrote:

@fable-kaima: The GN series that you mentioned is called The Keys to the Kingdom. I read Nintendo Power, and there was an ad for that exact same series. I'm gonna try to find that issue. Just a sec.
OK, I'm back. I couldn't find the issue I mentioned, though. Sorry!

That being said, the original title of the book isn't The Golden Compass. They just changed it for the sake of the movies.Ulfang wrote:Phillip Pullman's books are called the Dark Materials Trilogy. The Movie release is, as you say, The Golden Compass.

My favorites would have to be the Legend of Drizzt series which is part of the forgotten realms by R.A Salvatore. hes a genius. Drizzt is a drow elf who doesnt fit in with the rest of his kin because he has feelings and isnt a killing machine like his father, zak. and he is the best swordsman in Menzoberranzan.

Right now, I'm reading The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. I was planning to buy The Children of Turin but it's too expensive.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Gaah! I must have read the title wrong. It's Children of Hurin. Not Turin.Loki[D.d.G] wrote:Turin? Hurin? Which one?![]()

Actually, I would suggest that you read the "The book of lost tales" first. Then the "Chldren of Hurin". Though this is just my opinion...DesR85 wrote:Gaah! I must have read the title wrong. It's Children of Hurin. Not Turin.![]()
