I have now played most of the way through this game 3 times and I have a couple of observations that I would appreciate any comments on...
first, I think there is an order to the artifacts that you go after... first would be the Naga area, then the Shadow area, then the Draedoff Temple, and then the rest of the game (Tomb of Souls, then Irynthabl) - I say this because of the level of the loot given in the areas - I saved the shadow area till after the draedoth temple, and except for Nausolem, it was too easy... and the treasure was beneath my level...
second, once you get the ring from Elowyn(?) the game is a one-way ride to the end... no slowing down, no detours... so you better have all your exploring out of your system before you get that ring...
third, after the trial of elders, the weapon shops are about useless, except for a place to sell treasure... they never have anything worthwhile unless you have already sold it to them...
just some thoughts...
Observations after my 3rd time through...

I agree with the order of artifacts - I did not follow that order. I did Naga, then Tomb of Souls which I had a blast in and walked away wearing Deathlord BP/Legs/Arms/Shoulders, Katana of the Sun & Kama of the Void combo with Blade of Death in the bag to work on. Next, I did Shadows which was fun & nice change of mobs but (compared to what I already had) pathetic loot; followed by Draedoth which was a 1 hour blow-through again with pathetic loot. It wasn't until Irynthabl until I again reached level 9 chests and got the rest of the Deathlord & finally a very minor upgrade for my primary weapon.
Right now, my character is wearing the Ring of Protection, parked on moonbeast isle standing on a peak of the shrine loops out of melee range from critters on the ground. At level 32 I still have a few million more xp points I want to get so I can get the Blade of Death some use without penalty & bump up some other things just for kicks. BTW I just park my char on the shrine peak with spawn setting to "more" and go AFK for many minutes or even hour+ and come back to Nova a few hundred-thousand xp for less than a minutes work at the keyboard. They just don't spawn fast enough to make it interesting any more for legit leveling, they die on average with 2 melee round combos but are still by far the best xp in the game since dragons aren't respawning.
Anyways - after killing Lord Borrowgrim you can chill out and go back to places - else I am experiencing a bug.
True about weapon shops - just there for the new character.

I've always done them it this order: naga, dreadoth, tomb, shadow. If you did them in order of loot it would be naga, shadow, dreadoth, tomb. Shadow ruins is just unbalanced the general mob is easy but if you go too early you run the risk of Nauselum being a road block. Besides Nauselum the reason I think they intended shadow ruins to be close to the end is that the other dungeons seem to be practice for the all puzzles. Perhaps the bottom line is that the game is missing 2 or 3 levels of loot. Your weapons and armor progress along with the game up until whenever you decide to do tomb of souls after which point there are few new goodies to look forward too. D
hmmm...
Does anyone of you guys know where to get a strong weapon (over 20 dmg) before you go to the vale of ruin? Im playing my first round of Dl and i wanna get a kick@$$ wep for the vale. rate now i have the barbtongue runeblade and it sucks the big banana, i really need a better weapon.
ps: good armour locations will help to.

Don't do what others want you to do unless you want do do it.
Nauselum
I have gone to the shadow ruins relatively soon in the game. When I faced Nauselum I was unable to kill him because he keep curing up each time he teleports. The only way I found to kill him is to use a tool for character edition. I have the spell cataclysem that I found earlier in the game. I set my arcane skill to 999 and after wrap around it gave me 213 level arcane magic.
With the cataclysm spell Nausoleum dies instantly. I am not sure if there is other spells that can be used with the 213 arcane magic. There might be other ways to maximize damage (for fighters per example). I think the only way to kill him is a one shot kill otherwise he teleports all the time and regain his hit points.
Search on this forum for a character editor. Good luck.

Well I guess editing your character is one way to beat him
Didn't the ghosts and things you talk to tell you that only the staff makes him vulnerable. Hit him with the staff.
I think I killed him with magic missiles.
You also have to open up the 5 walls in a star around him and kill all his minions if I recall correctly. A bunch of novas did it and I only had arcane 15 spellfire 10.

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
